Seems it’s my new favorite hike of the park! Very easy and relaxed, without big elevation 2 mile loop. Lots of epics views along the trail, took us about 2 hours once we really relaxed.
Take your time and walk the loop trail. This awe inspiring walk brings you past giants, living and fallen. No words or photos can match the feeling. I wish I had stopped to sit or lay down on the ground and look up. Sit a spell and listen to the birds.
Easy walking paths that are paved with lots of big trees! So big and fun to walk around, touch, hug, and even take photos in front of! Highly recommended to arrive earlier before tours arrive. We went at 10am and walked in the trail after visiting General Sherman. We saw a black bear eating by the road on our drive down from the General Sherman area.
The Congress Trail is one of the most-visited paved trail in Sequoia National as it has many big sequoias in such a short distance. It is also wheel-chair accessible. At the trail you can see the World's Largest Tree- "General Sherman Tree". We did not do the whole 3 mile loop trail, we only covered the Sequoia Tunnel and the General Sherman Tree. There is a parking lot and also running shuttle (during shuttle season only) to reach at the trailhead. The only hiccup was the wait for the return shuttle, which took about 20-30 minutes. Since one shuttle couldn't accommodate everyone, we had to wait for another. Despite this minor inconvenience, the experience was unforgettable. Don't miss the chance to witness this natural wonder;
Easy trail with beautiful views. Ideal to visit after the General Sherman to get away from the crowds. There were still patches of snow around in the first half of May
