The Inlet at Lanier Pointe (Formerly Lanier's Campground) Introduce

The Inlet at Lanier Pointe, formerly known as Lanier's Campground, represents a significant upgrade and rebranding within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, offering an elevated and luxurious coastal camping experience in Surf City, North Carolina. This transformation aims to provide guests with a "5-star" amenity package, appealing to both transient vacationers and those seeking longer-term stays in a vibrant beach town setting. It's a premier destination for local users looking for a blend of natural beauty and resort-style comforts on the North Carolina coastline.

Environment: Waterfront Serenity and Coastal Proximity

The Inlet at Lanier Pointe boasts a prime location in Surf City, North Carolina, directly on the Intracoastal Waterway. This provides stunning waterfront views for many of its sites, allowing campers to enjoy picturesque sunrises and sunsets over the water. The overall environment is characterized by the refreshing sea air and the relaxed ambiance of a coastal community. The campground is nestled at "The Point" in Surf City, making it easily accessible from major interstates, yet providing a sense of escape.

While the campground itself is meticulously maintained, it is situated amidst the natural beauty of the North Carolina coast. This means abundant opportunities to experience the local flora and fauna. The proximity to the ocean is a significant environmental feature; the beach is just moments away, offering vast stretches of sand for recreation and relaxation. The flat terrain of the area is ideal for RVs, and the design of the park maximizes water views and convenient access to facilities. The blend of natural coastal elements with modern, well-kept grounds creates an appealing atmosphere for guests.

Services: Luxury Amenities and Diverse Accommodations

The Inlet at Lanier Pointe distinguishes itself through its array of "5-star" amenities and diverse accommodation options, catering to a wide range of preferences:

  • RV Sites: The park offers a variety of full hookup RV sites, including pull-through and back-in options, many with new concrete pads. These sites are equipped with water, sewer, and electrical connections (30 and 50 amp service) to ensure a comfortable stay for all sizes of RVs, including big rigs. Some premium sites offer direct waterfront views.
  • Cabin Rentals: For those without an RV or seeking a different experience, the campground provides beautiful cabin rentals, offering the comforts of home in a camping environment. Rates for these vary by season.
  • Tent Sites: Even with its elevated offerings, The Inlet at Lanier Pointe still accommodates traditional tent campers, with sites available for shorter stays (up to a two-week maximum). This ensures accessibility for a broader camping audience.
  • Swimming Pool and Clubhouse: A beautiful swimming pool and a well-appointed clubhouse serve as central hubs for relaxation and social interaction. The clubhouse likely includes facilities for gathering and possibly indoor recreational activities.
  • Community Pier and Private Boat Launch: Direct access to the water is a key service. A community pier allows for fishing and enjoying the views, while a private boat launch provides easy access for boaters, kayakers, and paddleboarders to explore the Intracoastal Waterway.
  • On-site Amenities: Additional amenities include a general store/camp store for essentials, a bath house with clean showers and restrooms, laundry facilities, an arcade and snack bar, and two dog parks, making it highly pet-friendly. On-site propane is also available.
  • Wi-Fi and Cable TV: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available at the clubhouse, and cable TV connections might be available at specific sites, ensuring guests can stay connected.
  • Security: The campground reportedly features security cameras and a guarded entrance, contributing to a secure environment for guests.

The management and staff are often praised in reviews for being friendly, helpful, and attentive, enhancing the overall guest experience.

Features: Coastal Recreation and Community Engagement

The core features of The Inlet at Lanier Pointe are centered around providing an exceptional coastal recreation experience and fostering a welcoming community:

  • Unrivaled Water Access: The presence of a private boat launch and community pier directly on the Intracoastal Waterway is a major draw. This enables immediate engagement in water sports such as boating, fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
  • Beach Proximity: Located in Surf City, the campground is just a short drive (reportedly less than 10 minutes) from the pristine ocean beaches of Topsail Island. This allows for convenient trips for swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and beachcombing.
  • Family-Friendly Environment: With a pool, playground, and arcade, the campground is designed to cater to families, offering activities that entertain children and provide opportunities for family bonding. The atmosphere is generally described as very family-oriented.
  • Variety of Stays: The flexibility to choose from short-term RV and tent sites, as well as cabin and house rentals, makes it adaptable for different travel styles and preferences. The availability of long-term options (monthly and annual) also promotes a semi-permanent community.
  • Accessibility to Local Attractions: The campground's strategic location in Surf City means easy access to local restaurants, charming shops, and other attractions like the fishing pier and possibly an amusement park. It's also conveniently located for day trips to larger cities like Wilmington and Jacksonville.
  • Renovation and Upgrade: The transition from Lanier's Campground to The Inlet at Lanier Pointe signifies a commitment to modern amenities and an elevated experience, including new concrete pads for RVs.

These features collectively create a destination that balances outdoor adventure with comfort and convenience, appealing to a broad audience from avid boaters to families seeking a relaxing beach vacation.

We camped at Lanier’s for the first time for the weekend. We had to pay a $35 “Lock-in” fee to guarantee our specific site. The site was $65 per night. We camp a lot & have never paid extra to guarantee a site. I paid it because I wanted to be near other family that were also camping. This extra fee is ridiculous & a racket for sure. When we got to our site the picnic table wasn’t usable and needs to burned & put in the garbage. I called the campground earlier in the week because the fire ring was also garbage. It was removed & nothing was replaced. The office staff lacks appropriate people/customer service skills & act like they are bothered by customers and we stood waiting in line to checkout but the person behind the counter was on a personal call & acted like we weren’t even there. We had a good time despite these issues, but we will not be back.

We came down for our anniversary this past week and let me tell you it does not disappoint. We are adding this onto our list to keep coming too. We were in spot 100 thanks to the amazing Linda and the views were amazing. It is peaceful and quiet. We are already wanting to book our next trip. We brought our dogs and kayaks and the boat ramp and pier are well maintained. I cannot wait to come back here during the summer with our kiddos to use the play ground, pool and arcade. Such a great gem we found here !

My wife and I had to go to Wilmington NC for a family event and wanted to be close to Wilmington and the beach. When we arrived the staff was wonderful, they asked if we ever have been there before, when I replied no she offered to upgrade me to the best site in the park. The views and proximity to Surf City beach was awesome. I would definitely recommend this campground. The bathrooms were recently renovated and we're very clean. We will definitely be coming back
