As one long-time visitor enthusiastically noted, the experience here makes it

"hard to stay at other campgrounds when they've set the bar so high!"

This beautiful retreat offers a seamless blend of natural beauty and modern convenience. It features an abundance of recreational activities centered around the tranquil, 50-acre

Little Pearle Lake

, alongside impeccably designed RV and cabin accommodations. The commitment of the owners to continuous improvement is evident everywhere, from the new additions like the

**Location and Accessibility**

The Lazy H Campground is strategically located at

701 IA-12, Akron, IA 51001, USA

, placing it perfectly in the scenic landscape of Northwest Iowa. This prime location is nestled between the picturesque

Big Sioux River

and the northern entrance of the famous

Loess Hills Byway

, offering breathtaking scenery and easy access to some of Iowa’s most celebrated natural features.

While the park is situated in a relatively remote area, which contributes to its quiet and relaxing atmosphere, it remains highly accessible for local users. Being directly off IA-12 provides straightforward navigation, making it a manageable drive from Sioux City and the surrounding communities in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Its location is a core part of its charm—it is remote enough to feel like a genuine escape from the city, yet close enough for a quick weekend trip. Guests should note that while the natural setting is a highlight, the specific address should be consulted carefully for initial navigation, as one customer noted it is

"not located in the easiest place for reference"

for GPS systems, a minor caveat easily overcome by following directional signage once near Akron. The journey itself quickly turns into a scenic drive, hinting at the peaceful recreation that awaits.

My wife and I stayed at the Lazy H in the "Couples" cabin #10. This is what we were looking for in a weekend trip. The customer service was outstanding. Everyone was welcoming and always had a smile on their face. The cabin itself was perfect I wish the light in the bathroom had a dimmer or was not so bright...better than the alternative I suppose. The campgrounds are excellently maintained and provide something for everyone. We were unable to use our own kayaks and this was the only disappointment for the whole trip. While I understand the reasoning behind the policy, it can be better highlighted on the website. It is not located in the easiest place for reference. So, while were unable to use our kayaks, were able to utilize the trails for a very b nice hike through the woods. Will we return? Absolutely!

My family spent another amazing Labor Day weekend at the Lazy H (this was our fifth or sixth stay). The cabins are perfect for a family of four and my kids ask to go back all the time :) Every time we visit you can see how much the owners are constantly working on maintaining and improving the campground. The new clubhouse and restaurant are a great addition. Aside from swimming and fishing, my family loved the extra activities that were planned for the holiday weekend -- especially the cart rides, cornhole tournament, and glow ride. The live band Saturday night was awesome! The only downside about the Lazy H is that it makes it hard to stay at other campgrounds when they've set the bar so high!

This place is an absolute GEM for campgrounds - Top Notch. The sites are enormous, very well maintained and well thought out. The lake is beautiful and a great place for the kids to swim. My only regret is this place was an overnight for us on our way back from family vacation. Cant wait to plan another trip here. If you need a place to stay on the western side of Iowa, make this your stop! The owner was there while we stayed over and was friendly and great to talk too!

We couldn't love this place more and are already excited to come back! The campground and cabins are so clean and well-maintained. The kids playground is the nicest we've seen too. Perfect location for a fun family vacation!

Only complaint was no signs on road coming in that campground was coming up. The need an entrance sign closer to road and gate was shut and you cross a RR track. If a train was coming, what do you do? Luckily we followed someone else in so did not get stuck at gate. Other than that, park is beautiful. I do not know how they keep the grass so beautiful. Really large grassy lots with nice concrete pads and bushes/trees in between each site. A very nice dining table for 8 and a firepit which they sell logs for. Very family and dog friendly. Just a nice vibe. Nice lake and beach. The new restaurant Buds was average. The burgers looked good though. Definitely would return there.
