Customer Reviews
I did not want to write a bad review but I have to. My family and I stayed recently for two nights. Everything seemed well up until we notice the bed sheets that looked dirty. We also notice the cleaning of the kitchen was bad. We wanted to let it slide, but with Covid and every sickness going around right now we want to make sure we get the best cleaning. The one thing that was weird was when we went to go grab the pillows from the entrance of the closet. There was a bag underneath the pillows, which had a weird smell to it and we opened the bag and it was a trash bag that was left that is so disgusting. We let the manager know and we asked to see if we can get some type of discount for inconvenience, but no response to that. We really wanted to rate the place five stars because of The view it’s a beautiful area, but the inside is not good. Seems like it was not clean. One kitchen cabinet door is broken. The downside of the rental is the fact that it says it’s 14 people, but there is only two medium pots and one pan. We had to be patient with cooking. The other thing is there was no laundry detergent. And we did not find any trash bags, there was only one trash bag. So we had to go buy it from the convenience store. I will say the worst part is just the cleaning itself. Just dusty and not sanitize. We noticed that a lot of the light switch had fingerprints of like candy or dirtiness. If you are wanting to book this place please think about your health, please find the different place.
This is such a great place to stay & was our 2nd time. The 2st stay in 2021. We stayed for our 20yr anniversary in April. It snowed on our way up the hill, & we got stuck. We put snow chains on in the storm & waited for a snow plow to lead us. There is a sign before you start climbing that warns you could need chains through April. Make sure you check the weather, & bring chains. Make sure you watch the weather apps they can even get storms in June. This year, 2024, we visit in early June with our sons. We all had a nice visit. We stayed in the same den as we did in 2021, The Bear Den. It's a large cabin (I think 1500 sq. Ft.) 3 bedroom, 4 toilet, 2 shower, & laundry rm. There are 2 kings, 1 queen & a pull out sofa. The queen rm & one of the king rms share a Jack & Jill bath with private toilet on each end. There's a lg open concept living room, kitchen, dining room w/ huge table & large breakfast bar w/ several bar stools. The room has a fantastic view w/ windows & glass slider all the way across leading to a deck with table, chairs & BBQ grill for the unit. The living room seats 5 to 6 on a sofa and loveseat. It faces the fireplace and there is 1 nice size SmartTV for the cabin over the fireplace. You can watch what's available on the TV, but you can log in to the streaming apps to watch more. We logged into a few of ours & they worked great. Make sure you remember to log out at the end of the stay. The host was very nice. She checked with us the morning before our arrival to verify how may people would be coming, and if we were bringing pets (We were not bringing pets). She checked with us after we settled in to make sure everything was to our liking. She even offered to secure reservation at a restaurant for us. More about the cabin... It is very cozy, homey and clean. The kitchen is stocked with many useful utensils, pots and pans, etc., including a hand mixer and a crockpot. You can grocery shop in Cedar City on your way up so you can make your own meals. If you're coming when you might get snow during your visit, I suggest getting some foods to make just in case you have to dine in. Even a frozen lasagna, some breakfast items and sandwich supplies. There is a nice size fridge to accommodate your shopping. Make sure you bring any spices cooking oils & condiments to cook with also, ziplock bags or storage containers etc. to store your food so you can take it home with you. There is also dining in the village. The beds.... It's hard for most of us to sleep in a different beds, not our own and the one we're used to. However, these beds are more comfortable than most hotels. The 2 kings are softer, but not too soft. The queen is firmer. If you have someone who likes a firmer bed, they might want to sleep on the queen. There are a couple of extra blankets and pillows in the closets as well. Temperature .... When we were there the temperature was nice inside without extra blankets. The heater was set on a schedule to bring the temp to 75 degrees at night. It woke us up the first night while sleeping at about 3am. We all woke up when we got hot. My husband turned off the scheduled timer and tried to cool it back off setting it to cool. But it didn't seem to be an air conditioning unit, just fan. Or maybe we didn't figure out how to put a/c on. The temp inside cooled down after opening windows and when closed, the inside temp never got warmer than 70 as long as we kept the scheduled time off. We were able to keep it at a temp we were comfortable at the rest of the stay. My husband turned the a/c back to the scheduled setting when we concluded our stay. The views.... They are incredible from our cabin. We saw hawks gliding on the breeze right in front of the lodge. There is a beautiful field with creeks running through it. We saw several Marmot sunning on the rocks and standing in the field. Everywhere you look it's beautiful. We will definitely be back and request the same den.
Do not rent until the place is cleaned up. The room was dirty. Food had been left in a closet in a bag and was spoiled and stinky. The microwave was dirty with paper towel still inside. The stove was covered with oil, had not been cleaned. Insufficient pots and pans for a family of 12. The pillow cases were soiled. Plenty of dust through the whole house. The property manager would not return our last text. We requested a credit due to the house being dirty and yet we paid a cleaning fee.
We love staying at The Lodge at Duck Creek because of the positive experience we always have here. It feels like home right when you walk in. There are many well appointed units but we usually stay in the pet friendly unit because we bring our dog with us. It can sometimes be difficult finding pet friendly places in Utah and this one happens to be a gem! The hosts are very friendly and accommodating. The beds and pillows are so comfortable and the units are pristinely clean. Be sure to stock up on groceries in Cedar City because the kitchen is stocked with all a cook could ask for. Love using the grill out on the patio and having meals alfresco. During the colder months it’s so nice to cozy up by the fireplace inside the unit or the fire pit outside near the front of the property. Every single unit has stunning views no matter what season you are staying. We have seen the gorgeous white snow landscape, the changing color of the autumn leaves in the fall and the amazing green summer landscape. You are minutes away from Aspen Mirror lake, Duck Creek or Navajo lake, Mammoth caves and many more places. We have also stayed here multiple times for skiiing at Brianhead and for hiking at Zion National Park. We can’t wait to plan our next trip!
The perfect place to stay for those looking for accommodations when visiting both Zion and Bryce. After a day in the heat of the canyons, this is a great escape to cooler hight elevations. Accommodations were clean and all essentials were available. Perfect family accommodations You are walking distance to Duck Creek Village for eats and groceries.
