The place is a bit of a dump, hasn’t been maintained very well in some time. Sites are ridiculously small. It doesn’t seem to be managed or maintained very well or at all by the day to day staff. Cabins are too small and have basic kitchen amenities but no table to eat at, that makes no sense. Showers that don’t drain, dirty and not cleaned, WIFI was slow and unreliable. The whole campground hasn’t seen any fresh gravel in a long time so it was a mud pit. Campsites are tiny, probably the smallest campsites I've ever seen. This place looks nothing in real life like the website makes it out to be, the website is very misleading. Not recommended and we won’t be back.
We love camping here. Whether it's in a cabin or tent. Justin always goes out of his way to ensure you have a great experience there. Mark is friendly & helpful. The new general store run by Sharla makes great coffee & has the essentials for your stay. We look forward to our next visit.
This was such an affordable and perfect campground for us. The showers were decent and the bathrooms were good and clean (and had outlets!). Some of the sites are on the smaller side for sure. But for a one night stay in our tent it was perfect! - the location is also AMAZING (very close to beach and attractions)
Stayed at The Retreat multiple times. Love the location! Staff are friendly and helpful. I especially liked the improvement with new ownership - towels, fresh bed linens, basic kitchen utensils, paper towels, dish soap. I need to pack so much less now than I used to in the past years. There is wifi available as well if you travel with teens. Some room for improvement. Please defrost the refrigerators between stays. I planned enough meals for 2 nights and could not use the freezer at all during my last stay - too much built up ice. The indoor electric stoves are weak and take forever to get hot - they are pretty much useless. Please consider upgrading those. Check shower heads frequently. During one of my stays this summer shower head in Cabin 27A sprayed all over the place and made quite a mess in the bathroom - needs tightening.
They think their false advertising is funny, cabins thoughtfully designed is more like: stand while you're eating, get all your food frozen or dripped on, air gaps you can see through, broken door lock that randomly works and they know it, and tip toe around the cord of a crappy little heater with tape on the reset button that stops sticking in the middle of the night and get lied to about replacing the tape. If you politely share your frustration with the smoker who lives off the place, prepare to get laughed at. And his solution trips the breaker outside. Get some booze outside cannon beach so you can chill out because this place could care less about you or your money. The local chiropractor told me it's run by the mayor.
The newly remodeled bathrooms must have been designed and built by someone 4' tall. The top of the shower head was at my belly button. I am 6' tall. The stall doors open inward making it very difficult to open and close when in the stall. Shower stalls are same size as toilet stalls, have no shower curtain, no shelf, no hooks, no bench. The whole thing was poorly designed. I would suggest staying elsewhere especially if you are over 4' tall. The camp sites have pavement and are mostly level.
I love the walking distance of this location. As soon as I got myself set up, elk came walking through camp like they owned the place. Staff was friendly. The gal who makes the body butters is not only adorable, she is so kind. The store has so many cute things made by locals and friends. The alpaca clothes are SO SOFT and cute as could be. The park guy took the time to walk around the sites with me to discuss easiest ways to pull in since I'm still new to the trailer. Staff all around was wonderful, and location is perfect. The views are pretty along the water, though I definitely don't trust the geese. All in all, adorable place to stop and dink around at.
By far the worst campground I have ever been to. Sites are on top of each other, everything is run down and the bathrooms look like they would be right at home in Auschwitz. Water was at best Luke warm. Women’s restrooms were closed. Didn’t even stay the night. Turned around and left an hour after getting there.
It’s a cute place for camping but the bathrooms are horrendous. When I was there the entirety of the men’s and women’s bathroom were under construction. Leaving only 2 family restrooms which clearly hadn’t been serviced recently. On top of that if two people were showering in the family restrooms then there was no toilet available. Literally had to leave the campsite in the early morning to go use the bathroom at a mcdonald’s. do not recommend.
Had been doing tent camping. The tent site was quite small. Just enough to place a tent and park a car. Picknick table is half of normal size. Toilet rooms are dirty. Both toilets had been clogged in the morning at the man's room. Seems like the personal didn't really care much . On a positive note, the location is perfect. Walking distance from the beaches and Ecola State Park.
