This is a Native American hotel located in Monument Valley, Utah. This hotel is famous for its great views of Monument Valley as a whole. The views are great and I would highly recommend seeing the sunset or sunrise. They also have a gift shop that is full of Native American goodies. If you are a guest at the hotel you get a $20 coupon on all handcrafted items(basically you can get something free if it’s handcrafted and under $20). The rooms are clean and well maintained. The only negative thing I have to say is that the breakfast is not great. They don’t have that many options and the food is not the best. But other than that, this is a great place to stay for a good view of Monument Valley.
Let's start with what's good, the view. One of the best hotel views I ever had. Rooms are tolerable. But all the rest is deplorable. Avoid restaurant at all cost, unless you want to eat frozen & processed food. Only the lettuce is fresh, but that's only because they have no other choice. Service is intolerable. The waitresses didn't even say hi. If you like to feel rejected, just run to this restaurant because you're not welcome and they will make sure you understand that.
We booked a room on a spur of the moment trip on the off season (January) and we were not disappointed. Not a ton of people were there. The room was clean and warm. (it was very cold outside) The staff was friendly and accommodating, not sure why others had so much trouble. The food was a tad expensive, but you're getting food in a very remote area. The quesadilla I had was good. Was it ground breaking food, no, but it wasn't as bad as others made it out to be. The view is why you're there. I would have liked if my neighbors would have turned their lights off because it washed out all my night shots and made it impossible to get decent dark sky shots. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise and headed to get the free breakfast. We had pancakes, sausage, yogurt, oatmeal and muffins. Milk, orange and apple juice. You can purchase 20 oz sodas if you want. Better continental than I've had at other hotels. We were given a $20 certificate to use at the gift shop as well as a 10% discount if we showed our room card envelope. We also got a certificate to get two free bottles of water. All of that was welcomed and appreciated. We will definitely return during the off season.
The view is absolutely fantastic. You get to see morning sunrise at the balcony with a cup of coffee in your hand, saving all the work to bring the kids out of their bed. The monument valley loop drive is connected to the hotel and all the excursions start at the hotel parking lot. You could also drive about 3 miles down where you can enjoy the beautiful sunset(the sky looks… beautiful) However, the restaurant is terrible. I’d recommend bring your own food or just grab the sandwich.
This hotel is in the prime location in my opinion. It does exactly what the name suggests, provide a killer view. A really nice and helpful touch is baggage carts are provided to take luggage up to the rooms. So simple but immensely helpful! The heating/cooling units in the room are quite loud when they kick in, so if you're traveling with a kid, putting their crib away from the unit is advised. Just near the hotel entrance is the start of the 17 mile drive. It's stunning and takes a good 2 hours to do with stops. A 4wd is a must, which is well signed and we saw a 2wd car being turned away due to low clearance. This review is for the hotel only, not the restaurant, which I wouldn't recommend due to limited food options and availability of those options. Sunrise is well worth getting up for and watching the monuments change color from the hotel balcony 🌄
