Great location! Beautiful view of the mountains! The vault toilets leave a bit to be desired, but overall a good experience.
I actually love this campground. I have been going here for many years. If you are willing to put up with the monster mosquitoes, the occasional large midge hatch then its great. There is great fishing. But!, can be great one day and terrible the next. Lots of other things to do like hiking, biking, kayaking. Great views from the campground. I am currently giving it threes stars because the campground has become a hectic scene with several overnight campers coming and going with to many of them completely void of campground etiquette. From leaving generators on for all day to dogs constantly barking and just the extra traffic coming and going. Most people at a fishing lake are just trying to relax and get away from the sounds of the city. This has been harder to do the last few years. I also noticed to many camp sites reserved over several days with no one ever showing up. This is just inconsiderate. Don't get me wrong. I think it's great so many new people are going outdoors but it would be nice if they were more considerate of others.
Great campground with excellent pit toilets that were clean and not smelly. Mosquitoes were out from 9am till 9pm and were relentless even with 100% Deet, natural repellent, citronella candles. No host so campfire wood is available from Diamond Lake resort or the gas station before the resort for $7 a bundle. The lake was amazing but a little on the warmer side. Seen a bear above the campground coming in around dusk to check for people leaving coolers out.
We visited the campground beginning of October. The water was turned off as it was late in the season, so make sure to bring your own water if visiting in the fall. The campground was quiet, beautiful, and well maintained. We arrived after dark and were able to easily find a camp site as it was well marked, and woke up to absolutely gorgeous views of mountains and a clear calm lake. We plan to visit again!
Second time staying here and we will definitely be back. It's clean and quiet with easy access to the lake even for kayaks. No hook ups but the water from the spigots is clean, cold there are lots of them. Great hiking and biking access. Fishing is consistently awesome! Hosts have always been friendly and helpful. Mosquitoes are bad this year, but they are bad everywhere this year. So no judgment because everywhere in Oregon is suffering from mosquitos.
