38 Renegade - Camped here 20 years ago. Just as we remembered, beautiful, remote, quiet, 45 minutes of washboard road to get here. Wed do it again.Arrived to our site and was shocked at the size! 42 it was not. Drove the loop and was met with the host, Leah? She said, you aint gonna fit that onewell get you into another. Walked us around to find one that was perfect. Very unlevel nut we managed. Beautiful area with Bbq grill & picnic table. Everything was pristine. Hosts, Leah? & her sister were out every morning cleaning sites after campers left. Squirrels, chipmunks, blue jays are everywhere. Deer & fawn walked right thru camp. They own the place. Road access.max speed in our rig..5-15mph max. Washboard, some potholes but mainly washboard. Creede - smallbe prepared. Take water. Cell service AT&T 1 bar. Over 50 years of family camping at Thirty Mile and it never disappoints. Camp hosts Leah and Tami did a great job of keeping the restrooms clean and making us feel welcome. They even stopped to check when our son and his family had to leave a couple of days early to be sure there wasn't a problem with the site (no problem at all...they needed to get back home for a birthday party). See you there next year!
Well laid out campground with nice sites, some on the river or creek. Fire rings and tables with gravel pads. Clean restrooms and water before the hosts leave at the end of Sept. On a good note, if you do happen to be in the area after the hosts leave you can camp for free but the restrooms are locked and water shut off...but it's still very nice and only a few campers were there.
Me and my family have been coming almost every year for about 13 years now. The outhouses are always well kept and the camp hosts are very nice and helpful. There are 2 trails that start in the campground so you have easy access to a pleasant hike. there is also a big hill that is pretty challenging to climbed right outside of the campground and when you climb it you get a great view of the place, it's about 600 ft. up. The Rio Grande also runs right by the campground so there is great access to fishing.
This campground is a favorite of ours. Lots of spots but it's best to have reservations, it's popular! A few spots are first come, first served. We always fish the Rio Grande right here at this spot. Great trails if you like to hike
