Customer Reviews
We have had a permanent site there for the past four years. It was a lovely campground when we first moved in. Over the past couple of years , it seems that Maintenance of the campground has went down hill. The roads are falling apart, One of the pools has been out of commission since last summer. The other pool is now out of commission and not open. The playground equipment is falling apart and not safe for the children to play on it. They have it boarded up. I know things happen and equipment will break and need repairs. Though the lack of repairs is what's concerning. The closing of bathhouses has caused many concerns. During a very tumultuous tornado season, this was a very scary situation as those bathhouses are the only safe place to shelter. Thankfully a member of staff stays at camp and was able to open them up in an emergency. However, having only 2 bath houses open for the entire campground is quite ridiculous. We've been told that the other bathhouses should be open on the weekends and recently 2 other houses have been locked during the weekends. As you know, we have over 900 sites...with access to 2 bathrooms.THis is not acceptable. I urge you to take a look at the management at this park. We cannot get anyone to answer phones, it sometimes takes multiple times to get emails answered ( getting charged late fees because you can't pay your bill). There are A LOT of unhappy people at this park, and if nothing changes i believe there will be a lot of members leaving. It's also been suggested that perhaps that's the point all along because membership gets a bonus for signing new members, not caring about the ones you already have. True or not, I believe your amount of people discontinuing their leases and membership is going to be significant this year, and it's due to lack of amenities and no communication or negative communication from management. We all enjoy coming here and love the campground friends we have made. But with it falling apart and no maintenance being done to fix anything its becoming quite concerning. The yearly fees for the lot rent continues to go up every year, but the maintenance continues to go downward. We have lost quite a few amenities that we are paying for.
This campground used to be so nice. At this point the potholes are so bad they are impossible to avoid, they have stopped opening one of the two pools, almost all the bathrooms are closed, playground equipment has been broken all summer and there is zero communication from management. No one answers the phone, emails are sometimes answered but not always. If water or electric will be scheduled to be shut off no emails or notifications are sent out, the only way to get any info is via rumor mill on the various camper facebook pages. There is no official information ever sent out by management. It’s really sad because it used to be amazing here, but a private equity firm purchased it and seems to be trying to make a short term profit as fast as possible by neglecting maintenance and not hiring adequate staff.
Used to be really nice, but under the current company that owns it, no bathhouse are open during the week, the large pool isn't open, so u have limited pool use in the other one due to size. Pot holes and dead trees are hazardous. There's no activies for adults. Theres a nice pavilion we could use IF they would leave the bathrooms open...but they don't. They allow atvs to run all over with loud music all the time. They allow kids under 18 to drive golf carts...even though they have posted u must be a licensed driver....when u complain to guard shack (if anyone is in there) their answer is we didn't see them. There's no security driving thru the park, they say there's no money for that. We pay for an entire season a high rate yet nothing is available to use during the week. Mini golf was removed for more sites, but was supposed to be rebuilt, new pool was built so we'd have 2 pools, no equipment at guard shack to use basketball or corn hole, so what's the point of offering them as an activity? The annual site folks are who create the activities unless the management says no (which they keep saying) The management uses the excuse that corporate is telling them no $ for repairs, no $ to hire employees, no $ for anything. So corporate i ask you...WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO FIX THIS PROPERTY!!! The pictures posted on the site are a lie. This park no longer is even a 3 rating. Which is sad for thousand trails properties. I travel to all over and stay at alot of Thousand Trails and Koa locations and this is the worst. The only reason I stay is I've made friends here but certainly NOT due to the park itself.
We have been members for 4 years and this year we will be cancelled. The maintenance of the place has went down hill, rds are horrible and also not all Amenities was available this year, pools down all the time, not a lot of activities anymore. We love bringing our family here and our children, with that being said very disappointed on how it’s went down hill. And to mention bathrooms are always locked no access. Trying to reach someone on phone is impossible. No securtiy, no gas. Beach slide is gone. Just very unpleased how they let a place that is so wonderful go down so bad
My complaints regarding Thousand Trails Indian lakes “resort”. I have been coming to this campground for the past 19 years and have been a permanent site holder for the past 4. In this time I have seen many amenities taken away such as… little to no recreation bathhouses being locked and unable to use handicapped facilities not being kept up to par (shower doors won’t lock and my son is handicapped) which is illegal. DJ and live music being taken away putt putt removed slide at lake removed (after maintenance did a terrible job at trying to fix it and 11 people broke their tailbone on it due to their poor maintenance job myself included) big pool not open anymore staff shortages roads that are absolutely horrendous no security no customer service and you can’t get a hold of anyone on the phone gas is no longer available dead trees everywhere that management won’t cut down events that were approved by prior management being canceled at the last minute by current management that are paid for BY the members and put on BY the members. All of this and our rates continue to increase yearly along with guest pass rates going from $5 to now $10-$15 depending on what they decide and we the campers have seen nothing being improved despite all of our many attempts. I along with 7 other seasonal campers are now looking to move to another local campground that provides all amenities listed and they are vast. I would like to know where you as a corporation stand on these issues? I know many of us have called and emailed corporate and nothing is being done about any of the issues listed.
As a teenager, my parents had a year round spot at this campground. We'd spend every weekend, a few weeks out of the summer & and occasional winter weekend here. I had my own small camper for me & a friend (or that my sister & her family commandeered when they came) to stay in on the side of my parents larger RV. While I'm currently 51 & this was when I was around 14/15, I don't know much about pricing. I just know it was an amazing place to grow up for kids or teenagers. I even had my own small golf cart that was constantly needed a charge. We weren't wealthy or even well off so, I'd think it was reasonable. Now that I'm older, I'm looking into getting my own membership. I just hate that I waited until my kids were grown. My parents had their friends there & i made my own friends. I just can't say enough great things about this place. Although we knew plenty of older people that stayed there on the weekends, there were also a lot of people with kids. There was always something fun going on from bingo to euchre tournaments to costume parties & dances. Just a wonderful, wonderful place & I have nothing but fond memories of there.
No loyalty to annual site holders! We had an annual site here for 4 years. This past month we lost our campsite due to not being able to get in touch with the office to pay for our site. We had emailed and stated we were planning to stay for another season. I called multiple times a day for a week and left multiple messages. The office NEVER answers the phone or calls back. Like other reviews have stated the campground has gone down hill in the past couple of years. The roads in the campground were full of pot holes. The two pools on the property were either broke or overcrowded. The cabins are in bad shape. Kids got injured because they allowed off road vehicles on the roads where kids ride bikes. The list could go on! We were willing to give the new management a chance and sign for one more season. This lack of communication and loyalty does not give me any confidence that the new management is going to improve the condition and overall management of this campground.
Not a bad campsite. People are friendly for what staff they have (so understaffed it is insane). Mostly all full time annuals live here permanently. Of course they think they own the park. There are the few that are rude and get mad because anything makes them angry. No rules after the staff goes home and then the music goes up and the heavy partying begins. Thousand trails needs to step up and have night security. People don’t follow rules but what can you expect when ppl have no staff. So theft is a problem.
Do not join Thousand Trails. They put you in a flood plain. Fire pit is so muddy, no full hook up. You are second in line behind KOA and full timers here. Campsites suck for thousand trails campers. What a joke.
I had purchased a membership to get an appointment I came in for my appointment. I was shown lots. I had given them my information for my background checks and they were supposed to have someone call me back in the next couple days and I have not received a call back in about three weeks. I’ve made several phone calls and left messages so I had to cancel my membership and I will never camp here.. they also told me that they don’t open until May 1 and I would have to have the 4300 paid by May 1 which I had to pay for the season but I guess they’re not interested in finding me a lot, I know my background check came out just fine because I had a background check done at another location and they got back to me immediately the same day. So I would never refer Thousand Trails to anyone.
