Thousand Trails Moody Beach Introduce

Thousand Trails Moody Beach, located in Wells, Maine, is a campground and RV park offering both RV sites and cabin rentals. As part of the Thousand Trails network, it caters to members and non-members seeking accommodation in the Wells area. However, based on recent customer reviews, the facility has received mixed feedback regarding its conditions and services.

Several reviewers have expressed concerns about the condition of the cabins, noting that they are in need of updates and upgrades. Issues such as malfunctioning heaters and overall maintenance have been highlighted. One specific complaint mentioned a heater that unevenly distributed heat, causing discomfort within the cabin. Additionally, concerns have been raised regarding noise levels, with reports of loud music from other guests affecting the quiet hours.

The RV sites at Thousand Trails Moody Beach have also drawn criticism. Reviews indicate that the sites are closely spaced, requiring parallel parking in some instances, which may be challenging for larger RVs. The cleanliness of the facilities, including fire pits, grills, bathrooms, and laundry rooms, has been a point of concern for some guests. The laundry facilities were also noted to have broken machines.

Specifically, the following issues were noted:

  • Cabins in need of updates and upgrades.
  • Malfunctioning heaters in cabins.
  • Noise disturbances from other guests.
  • Closely spaced RV sites requiring parallel parking.
  • Unclean fire pits and grills.
  • Subpar bathroom cleanliness.
  • Unclean laundry room with broken machines.
  • High laundry costs.

While the campground offers the convenience of the Thousand Trails network, potential visitors should be aware of these reported issues. It is recommended to consider these reviews when making a decision about staying at Thousand Trails Moody Beach. Been a Thousand trails member for multiple years as well as parents and grandparents. This place is not up to standard of the Thousand trails brand. The cabins are all we use and for the price paid, the place is in serious need of updates and upgrades. Not sure if this is a manager issue or a TT issue. Whaler's rest in Oregon has all newer or updated cabins. The one we're in has a heater that only heats up the back bedroom but the thermostat is in the living area making it get over 90 degrees in a few moments. Constantly having to turn the heat on or off by hand. Another issue is the allowance of other guests playing extremely loud music. The ranger said quiet time is at 11pm. If this were any of the other locations this wouldn't be an issue. He did ask them to quiet up but the music is easily heard through the walls of our cabin. Update: The night ranger did ask the neighbors to lower the volume. It was much better after that.

For the price they charge for this place you would think it would be in tip top shape. The RV spaces are ridiculous!! Parallel park?? Very close quarters .Never seen such a thing. Fire pits are not cleaned out, grills are not cleaned… the bathrooms are not the cleanest. The water from the showers are not limited to just your shower. The laundry room is not clean. Two of the six washing machines broken down. $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry. This place makes me never want to join a Thousand Trails Rv place if this is how they take care of things. My advice to people is look for another place to stay!!

This was my first time at Thousand trails moody beach. It was also my first time using my Thousand trails membership. I have to admit my first impressions were not very good, but it changed. To start I was late getting there so I was stressed. Once I got there they gave me a map with a list of available sites to choose from. I’m use to having an assigned site. I tried 3 sites before I found 1. The sites are also parallel to the roads which I am also not use to that. I am not saying these things are bad just different than what I am used to. While I was setting up I noticed most of the campers were very old and not in the best condition. I also notice a strong odor of Weed. It was coming from everywhere. I’m not a prude I just don’t love the smell. Anyway all of this made my stress level higher. To be honest at that point I was ready to pack up and go home and cancel my Thousand trails membership, but my wife was coming the next day and I figured I would give it a try. On Sunday most of the older campers left and a lot were replaced with newer ones and most of the people were families. We were scheduled to go home on Tuesday. The weather was bad almost the whole time I was there. I decided on Tuesday that it wouldn’t be fair for me to make a judgement on the campground and Thousand trails from what I experienced. I saw the rest of the week was going to have good weather, so I decided to try and extend my stay. I tried to do this on my app and wasn’t able to. I then went to the store and the person who was there couldn’t do it for some reason but there was Thousand trails rep on site. He was fairly new and he wasn’t sure how to do it. He gave me a business card for his boss. I called his boss and he wasn’t in his office so he also couldn’t do it. When you read this I want you to know that I didn’t feel like I was getting the runaround. Everyone was as helpful as they could be and very pleasant to deal with. I called the 800# and let a call back number. Thousand trails called me back in less than 10 minutes. When I told her what I wanted to do she was able to work it out. Because I another reservation scheduled in less than 7 day they said I couldn’t do it, but I asked if I could pay for a couple days and they allowed me and gave me a 20% discount. She was very nice and helpful. Everyone that I dealt with was as accommodating as possible. We really enjoyed the rest of our time there. We did use the pool and hot tub which were fine. If you are looking for an RV resort type this is not for you. It’s a great place to setup camp and take advantage of all of the attractions in the area. This is my first year camping so I am trying different places to find out what I like and don’t like. There is a great beach near by that allows dogs any time. We checked that out with our dogs and it was great. We are booked there again next month.

Camping at this place was the absolute worst experience. We arrived at our tent site to find it strewn with broken glass and trash. The fire pit had not been cleaned out, and was FULL of half melted plastic and aluminum cans. Upon moving a couple of large rocks that were a tripping hazard in the middle of the site, I realized that our tent site was situated on a leach field. There was a large circle of sand in the middle of the site, clearly covering over an RV septic tank. The smell of raw sewage was overwhelming when I moved the rocks and dug out the fire pit. The restrooms by the pool and offices were absolutely disgusting, and the facilities closest to our tent site were closed. On the last morning of our stay, the experience got worse! While I was using the restroom, a member of the housekeeping staff trying to clean the restroom repeatedly and impatiently asked “are you done yet?” And said that “I was taking forever”. I had maybe been on the toilet for 3-5 minutes at that point. I have a medical condition and sometimes things can take a while. She repeatedly harassed me and it was absolutely humiliating. There is NO reason ANYONE should EVER be rushed and asked to leave a restroom short of the building being on fire. When I exited the restroom she confronted me, shaking her head and ROLLING HER EYES in a very condescending and demeaning manor. At that point I demanded that she take me to her supervisor. Jason, the general manager handled the situation to the best of his ability. I was told that she would receive “extra training” regarding her behavior in the situation. In my option that staff member should have been terminated immediately. The entire ordeal was very upsetting, and I will never be back.

Place is kind of a dump. Poorly ran. Quiet time starts at 11 but the ranger leaves at 11 so there is no one to enforce it. Loud neighbors were up partying very loud untill 3 am. Not all showers have hot water but all have loads of mold. Toilets don't flush so there's overflow on the floor. And the 3 of us that used the pool all have bad coughs and eye infections. Place needs some serious help. I won't be back

We planned on a week but when we arrived in May, they were open 2 days but were not ready for guests, no recreation hall use, two bathrooms were closed for repairs. The other two were freezing couldn’t figure out any heat or find out how to turn it on. Bathrooms were old, but clean. The hot tub was not working. The pool was closed until Memorial Day. The cable was not working. They said they had called the man to fix it but ours never did work. The laundry room had a sign that said out of order. 2025 May this was the worst vacation spot for us so we left after four days.

Pros: Level sites Decent space between sites Has a little store for basics Close to shops Walking distance to beautiful beach Mini Golf and go karts Cons: Park wide water problems and poor communication from the park If you are a traditional family then the area is not suitable for children, specifically Ogunquit which is walking distance from the park. Strongly suggest looking into the little town of Ogunquit and what they celebrate.
