Thousand Trails Pacific City Introduce

Thousand Trails Pacific City is a beautiful campground nestled in Cloverdale, OR, offering a unique blend of nature and modern amenities. Perfect for both RV enthusiasts and tent campers, this park provides a variety of sites, including full hookups with water, electricity, and sewer, as well as primitive camping options. The facility extends over a mile long and half a mile wide, featuring 20% full hookup sites ideal for longer stays. Most sites have been upgraded with new electrical and water systems, ensuring a comfortable stay for all visitors.

One of the standout features of Thousand Trails Pacific City is its proximity to the Oregon coast, offering easy access to beaches and outdoor activities. The park itself boasts a lodge with cozy accommodations, making it an ideal base for exploring the area. Thousand Trails Pacific City is well-suited for families and groups looking to enjoy Oregon's great outdoors. The park provides ample space for outdoor activities, including sports and recreation. However, visitors should note that internet access is limited, adding to the secluded charm of the location. Nearby, you'll find a market and gas station, though these are about 10 minutes away.

Guests at Thousand Trails Pacific City often highlight the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking sunsets as highlights of their stay. The park’s location by the coast means tides and weather should always be monitored, especially during King Tides and Sneaker wave warnings. These natural phenomena can bring unexpected challenges, so staying informed is key to a safe visit.

Pacific City Thousand Trails Having spent 3 weeks here, from November to the first week of December, it has been an experience. In the first 10 days (about 1 and a half weeks), we survived 2 “Bomb Cyclones” off the coast of Washington. Dog paddling thru inches of rain and gust of 60 MPH winds. We somehow managed to find a bowl in the topography and did not really suffer any damage from the winds. We traveled to many sites worth the effort. It has taken all 3 weeks to find and do all within a 60-mile radius. The weather cleared to Summer like conditions, although just above freezing in the early morning temperatures. The campsite was almost empty most of the time. Surprisingly, Thanksgiving weekend had visitors/campers load up the park in the area we chose to camp. The same campers left to go back home by the following Monday. My wife and I walked the whole camp to evaluate the individual camp sites to our liking. The camp is close to a mile long and ½ a mile wide. 20% of the sites are a “Full Hookup” site with Water, Electrical power, and Sewer. The majority of those are assigned to permanent residents. Most of the camp has been upgraded with new electrical and water systems. The roads are rough and, at times, tight for the larger rigs. 65-70% of the sights are level. “B” section is not level for modern RV’s. Sections of “A”,”B”,”C”,”D” are very close to the highway/road. We felt noise could be a concern. The elevation change can go from 40 ft to 180 ft. Some areas are steep and could pose a challenge with frost or snow. Plan your day accordingly in the winter. The staff is helpful, and they keep the camp in clean working order. The bathroom facilities are clean. The Lodge is huge, and the view is spectacular. Laundry area is small, but useful. The trails around the camp are kept trimmed and clear of debris. They are well worth the energy to walk. Internet is limited with the system they have installed. The challenges we found had to do with the location. It is both a positive and a negative. Pacific City has a hardware store and a grocery store. Both are small and limited, but helpful when needed. Local eatery is a positive experience, but spendy. 24 miles will be the travel required for any substantial shopping North or South, and 50+ miles for a major shopping mall. This is also true for the geographic site you need to see. We put many a tank of gas in our small TOAD. Well worth the expenditure IMO. When on the beach, please pay attention to the tides and weather. We had King Tides and Sneaker wave warnings posted. You might not think it, but it does not take much water to roll those big driftwood pieces. One of those on top of you, and that makes a dreadful day. In the end, Pacific City Thousand Trails is a big plus. We are very thankful the weather cleared enough for a week of spectacular sunsets.

Gary at the front office is a ray of sunshine. This is my favorite place to camp and Gary is a big part of the why. I highly recommend this campsite. The bathrooms are soooooo nice!!!

Nice park in a good location near Pacific City. Loved the beach and being able drive the Jeep on the same. Campground was nice, restrooms clean and warm, roads need some maintenance but they do keep the speed down so that is good. We love the location and park.

Such a large campground! Sites to fit any preference. Decent, though slightly outdated, lodge, pool, and jacuzzi. Winter hours close really early for these things which was unfortunate. Showers were nice, though the women’s by the pool didn’t get very hot, just stayed a little warm. Was told by my friend that the men’s was really hot. There is hardly any cell service here, though there is complimentary WiFi at the lodge, and I believe you can pay to have WiFi access at your site. Regular picnic table, and fire pit at the site.

Very large campsite, with lots of spots. Sewer hookups were sparse and usually occupied by people who have paid to live there or have a reserved spot, but that's why you have a portable dump tank. The sites were a great size for my 30ft with a truck, and I saw some much larger rigs as well. Loved walking through the park for some good exercise and enjoyed the mini-golf while doing laundry. As mentioned, cell service was hit and miss, and the free WiFi was not available throughout the whole park. Since I had to work, I drove around until I found a good signal which worked really well - I was able to watch my Seahawks on my SmartTV. There is a paid WiFi network there, but the staff at check-in said the speed wasn't great. Lastly, the staff was very friendly. From the check-in to throughout the park, very nice to chat with.

In 2008 we stayed 21 days at this park on our way to Alaska. The park looked really good and maintained. This was before the patent company got greedy and opened all Thousand Trails up to the public and began leasing annual sites. Problem is even though they have taken in more dollars they have failed to maintain a large majority of them. Bend-Sunriver is a good example. The annual sites here in Pacific City Thousand Trails are over grown and look terrible. If the lessee fails to maintain then the park should. Why am I complaining now, well I'll tell you. We're here during Memorial Day Weekend. I chose a full hookup site about 120 days prior to our stay however we were bumped to a standard site, no sewer (looks like a large number of full hookup sites are occupied by the annual people). Then there's the over growth and ground debris which helps fires. There was also the low water pressure issue. I realize there's probably a shortage of staff but hey, how much money is Equity Life Styles racking in and keeping instead of investing in their properties. In closing, I'm disappointed in the parks we've stated in so far in Oregon but hoping Seaside will be much better.

This is probably the worst Thousand Trails we have stayed at. The park is slathered across a hillside and nothing is walkable. Even the bathrooms were a quarter mile away up hill, and we weren't the farthest site from them. There is no cell service and their park wifi is horribly unreliable. The sites are not flat and most do not have full hookups. They advertise how great the views are, but the brush has grown up to where you can't see the ocean hardly anywhere. The nearest towns are 20 miles in either direction. The indoor pool was nice, except for the missing roof section, but the hot tub is outside. The list goes on and on.

I am a member here and wanted to share some pros and cons of this experience, particularly the pacific city campground. Most of my issues are with the corporate structure company and horrible guests. I have not had issue with the individuals working here and they are all really helpful. Pros: -mostly private campsites -water and electricity readily available (less -sewer sites and they aren’t as nice) -24 hour bathrooms -laundry (only open for 6 hours in winter) -hot tub (only open for 6 hours in winter) -dump on site -great spot for pets -excellent landscaping /trails Depending on the plan you get you can camp for various amounts of time (1-3 weeks) before you have to spend a week away. We live full time in an RV and the privacy and location are really beautiful. The people who work here are really great and also live on site. This is a super affordable option. Cons: -sites not flat (real hard without auto leveling) -when there is an issue there is not a clear structure of hierarchy to complain and follow up (laundry and hot hot both broken once for a week) -Getting member services online is challenging (their website is not well organized and doesn’t have good menus) and when you call you sometimes get a call back. We have also just gotten a dead end line with no way to leave a message. We have had to call numerous times usually to get someone to help. My main issue: SAFETY To complain about safety issues or concerns there is no clear place to do it. The online complaint form won’t submit from either of my computers or my phone and gives a redirection error. There is no place in person to submit complaints. Most of my complaints have been about other guests, not about the services or staff. I wish there was a way to easily resolve disputes. Side note: campers here this week tried to attack someone in a bathroom because they perceived them as using the wrong bathroom. There was no action taken from thousand trails. I tried to call, post a complaint form and talked to the ranger. I would caution anyone with expressive gender to be alert. There are no family or gender neutral bathrooms available FYI. There is also no conflict resolution without police as no one is available after 6 pm to help you until 10 am the next day. I personally have never had an experience like that in Oregon. These were out of state visitors, so police wouldn’t really be helpful.

We love camping here in our trailer with our dogs, now that we can get an assigned site we come here more often, we like to drive down onto the beach and let the dogs run until they can't anymore
