Customer Reviews
We have been to lots of Thousand Trails campgrounds and this was our last favorite. When we got to our site we had to pickup garbage on the ground and in the BBQ pit. Only saw one guy doing any clean up work in two days. Thousand Trails need to set some standards for their sites and enforce them. On a positive note the bathrooms were clean and the shower was hot.
I need to start off by saying our review would have been a 1 if not for the incredible maintenance man with the long beard who was always working on something and even took my trash for me in his golf cart when he saw me walking a ways to the bin. We were here at TT Soledad Canyon once before they started assigning sites during the fires and even running from a fire had a far better stay that this time. Our assigned site was right up against a bathroom and our slide nearly touched our neighbor in an unpaved section, of course. They absolutely refused to move us to another site despite have many open sites in every section. There is a loud train that goes by right alongside the campgound about every hour so it was very difficult to sleep being that close to the train. Needless to say if we had picked our spot we would have chosen just about any other section. The site was so unlevel my husband had to dig holes on one side under the tires to get our camper to level so bring a shovel. During our stay some of our personal belongings were removed from the picnic table on our site by maintenance and we had to call the office to have our things returned. And on checkout day the office called us and had the audacity to ask us to leave early because the next person who was assigned to our site showed up before their checkin time.
The front desk employee had no information, she didn't tell me gate code, where full hook up sites were, nothing. We just had to figure it out on our own. The guard at the gate didn't even speak to us when we asked him a question, he grunted, stared at us and never even cracked a smile. Our site was so close to the person next to us, no room to even walk thru to hook up utilities. Garbage all over, in every site. We picked up as much as we could. Don't my dues pay for something? Ridiculous!!
Update: I have stayed here several times since my first review and haven't had any further issues with cleanliness or noise. The internet still sucks, but I don't think there is a whole lot they can do about that, and it seems to be being worked on regularly. Otherwise, it's a great spot and very convenient location. I get good cell service three miles away in town. This was my first time using my TT membership. The campground was large and had a good amount of amenities, although several appear to be closed for the season right now. The pool that was open was full of leaves. They also charge for wifi, which is fine if it works. I've spent about three hours cumulatively on the phone with tech support, have to call at least once a day, trying to get wifi to connect well enough to load a simple web page or open an email. They also don't seem to enforce their own rules here, which has made for a less pleasant experience. There is loud music playing all day every day for the last three days so far. There are also multiple sites with garbage piled up outside of their rigs, spilling into the roadway. Staff is present, but doesn't seem to address any of it. Pretty disappointed. I don't need luxury, but peace and cleanliness, general rule enforcement seems like it should be a bare minimum.
Had the most wonderful time here. Cabin was perfect space size for fiance and I. Very peaceful nights and mornings. Heat and AC worked great, so clean! The staff really care about taking care of the cabins. I love the fact it came with cooking utensils and soap and sponge to clean dishes after. Beautiful time I love it would definitely come back. We seen a coyote on site, went by the stream, about 10 mins down the road is Los Angeles national forest, so beautiful we loved it. Thanks for making us feel welcome. I love the fact that we get to enter a pass code for the door instead of worrying about a key. If you’re thinking about staying here , do it !!!
