A great camping trip! My dad, my brother, and I all had a great weekend here last fall. I got there a day early and spend the first night alone with the fall colors, babbling brook, and my sketch book. It was wonderful, the only reason I couldn’t give it a perfect 5 was because there was a homeless couple staying a few sites away from us and, they kept asking me for a cigarette, or a lighter, or whatever the heck they wanted to bug me about. Also it gets confusing because online it says it is “three forks campground” but the sign when you get there is “dry canyon campground” but hey, it’s free, it’s close to the diamond fork hot springs, and I really had a good time.
Beautiful area next to the river and 1.5 miles from 5th Water Hot Springs. Very clean and well maintained. Pack in, pack out location, but thankfully has a toilet. One warning! Beware of the overly friendly skunk who lives in the camp. He visited us every night and tried to break in. He isn't afraid of people or dogs. Thankfully he never sprayed, mainly gave annoyed looks and waddled away.
It was great! We did family pics and had a BBQ in the beautiful woods surrounded by the beauty, colors, and water. Peaceful and gorgeous!
Beautiful campsite, great for pitching a tent. And it was free! We hiked to the hot springs which was further than we thought it would be but it was neat to see. There is no trash drop off here so make sure you have room to pack it out. We did have a problem with the bees whenever we cooked a meal, they didn’t sting though just buzz around. A skunk was wondering through our campsite at night but seemed friendly (didn’t spray).
Three Forks Campground (AKA Dry Canyon) is a hidden gem a half mile from Fifth Water Hotsprings trailhead. Has tables, firepits and a pit toilet. Best of all no campground fee!
