Great little place to camp in the summer. We stayed during a car show event, it was a great time with food trucks, bounce houses for kids, and music. They did have a whole party that happened thar started at 9pm and was pretty loud until 2am but thankfully our baby slept right through it. This is the perfect little summer campground for a great family time. My 8 year old loved playing at the pool and on the playground. The bathrooms/shower house isn't air-conditioned which is kind of a bummer in the summer (especially for the price) and the pool got really dirty from all the people and I didnt see a single worker cleaning it or tending to the pool area at all the whole weekend. Another downside was the pool bar. You aren't allowed to bring your own drinks to the pool and the poolbar only had lite beer. I had a $12 mudslide in a small Styrofoam cup that hardly had any alcohol in it at all which was also a huge bummer if they didn't allow you to bring your own drinks. Get a bigger selection and put more alcohol in the mixed drinks... (I usually get big buzzed off of 1 1/2 beers so to not even be convinced that there was alcohol in my drink was :(...) Overall a great time, though I do hope that they might take a little bit more care of the cleanliness of the pool area for future events, improve drinks at bar and eventually put ac in the bathrooms.
My family's experience at Tickfaw River Village was incredibly disappointing. We arrived with our children excited to celebrate the 4th of July weekend, only to be met with hostility from the owner. Within five minutes of arrival, we were yelled at for simply retrieving a drink from our ice chest, something we were never informed was prohibited beforehand. The owner's aggressive behavior, threatening to 'tote us out', was completely unwarranted and unnecessary. To make matters worse, among our group of friends, we collectively spent $100 on entrance fees. Additionally, we did have an open tab, which may be the most frustrating part of this incident. I understand that every establishment has rules, but there was no clear explanation of these rules upon arrival. I would have never intentionally broken said rules if we were informed. Apparently, our friends were briefed on this before we arrived, but we had no idea. The owner insisted that he had already informed, but this was false. I had never spoken to him prior to this encounter. Communication is key to running a business, and the lack thereof at this establishment led to an unpleasant experience for us. I am not one to leave a negative review, but I have also never been yelled at so aggressively by a business owner. I have personally worked in the service industry for eight years, three of which I spent in management, and know that clear communication and respectful customer service is not difficult to provide. We are extremely disappointed in how we were treated today. * I would also like to add: After speaking with others who have visited, this is not the first time paying customers were treated poorly by the owner.
Family oriented nice atmosphere kid friendly all around great place for camping! Also beautiful for any kind of party are gathering š over all definitely recommend to check it out!
We camped there on Memorial Day weekend 2024. The campsite had a level concrete pad but did not have a picnic table, BBQ pit, or fire ring. We lost water pressure multiple times on Saturday. The pool was cloudy, and poolside trash cans had a foul, putrid stench with liquid draining onto the pool deck. An intoxicated "member"(not a camper) was cursing and harassing the "camper" children in the pool. No management on site and the poolside bar continued to serve this intoxicated "member". If you want a family oriented campground that appreciates your business......Keep looking...this is NOT it.
We stayed memorial weekend. Everything was great until the last night there. Intoxicated adults at the pool were acting out of control, not only bullying kids, but adults as well. We asked for management. We were told one manager was there but he was intoxicated and had no solution to the problem. We were told the other manager was on his boat bc he said he had a long weekend. Then we were told another manager was at Walmart. Once the manager came back from Walmart she did not have the decency to come speak with us. Which to me is uncalled for especially since we chose to stay there instead of spending our money elsewhere. When you run a business you should be concerned about any complaint your receive instead of making assumptions of what you thought happened and just taking the word from intoxicated adults. You should always get both sides of the story bc thereās always two sides. Instead of addressing the issue you chose to make a Facebook post stating that kids were bullying kids when that wasnāt even the case. The bartender kept giving drinks to the intoxicated adults. Which by the Louisiana Dram Shop law itās illegal to continue to serve drinks to someone who is clearly intoxicated. But everyone should already know that. Not only did they allow the intoxicated adults to drive in and out the campground multiple times where kids are out and about but they also drove themselves home which couldāve caused an accident. Drunk driving kills. Seems to me like this campground is ran by people who allow their friends/family to come get trashed and run the campground while no manager is around. Instead of approaching the complaint like an adult we got the run around and still have not been contacted by anyone from the campground which speaks volumes. Out of all my years camping I have NEVER experienced anything like this. Usually, campgrounds remove the intoxicated person either themselves or they bring the law in to handle the situation. Im extremely disappointed and was really hoping we could have future visits here but unfortunately we will not be returning.
