Nice park right on the border between the US and Mexico. It's incredible to see the wall between the countries and how the city of Tijuana is built right next to it, whereas San Diego is quite a bit further north. If you want to see the border from relatively up close, when driving keep heading towards the wall as you approach this park, there's other trails where you can take clearer pictures after the water treatment facility and the winding road.
We felt safe hiking up the hill near the border here. Well maintained trail, but maps could be improved. Great views of ocean and south bay. - there is still flooding in lower area so we didnt explore trails in the valley
Beautiful campground, everything looks pretty new, restrooms were clean, campsite were spacious, almost semi private with some plants and space dividing each campsite. There is also a fun playground for the kids made all from wood and ropes, my kids loved it. We felt save, park rangers are always there circling around. But there were many many many sand flies, we came back home with at least 50 bites so make sure to take a good brand of repellent because the brand I took didn't do much. We reserved for 2 nights but only spent 1 night, and came back home, the sand flies and the heat were too much for us. Also the water from the shower is too hot, there were only 1 temperature set which was really hot. There's a beach close to the campground but I think it's not safe for swimming because the water quality is not good. I don't think I will come back to this campground. Even though it's a beautiful and very clean campground, the sand flies kills the moment
This is a great place to camp. Clean, quiet, super helpful/respectful staff. The weather can be extreme. Be prepared. The firewood is a great deal at $5 a bundle. Hike 1 mile West you'll hit the ocean. No condos 7-11 Starbucks. Just OCEAN 🌊 BE SURE TO CHECK THE WATER QUALITY! No swim days are frequent. Thanks for the sewage Mexico! $$ at $24 a night this place is a bargain.
Great birding spot and will be better when the new vegetation grows up. Dirt paths-trails . Packed parking lot. Quiet area.
