Timber Camp Campground Introduce

Nestled in the picturesque town of Gardiner, Montana, Timber Camp Campground offers a tranquil escape for nature lovers and adventurers alike. With only three spacious campsites, this hidden gem provides a peaceful retreat away from the crowds, making it an ideal base camp for exploring the nearby Yellowstone National Park, just a 35-minute drive from the North Entrance.

The campground features large, well-maintained sites with ample space for RVs and campers. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, and the nearby creek adds a soothing ambiance to your stay. Fantastic campground! Only three campsites, and a ways off the beaten path but it was an amazing place to spend 4th of July weekend with the family. it takes about 35 minutes to get to the north entrance of Yellowstone and for us that worked well as a base camp.

We loved this area. Three spots only but they are large with area to turn around. The road is good with potholes, but we did 15mph average less in some stretches after the road narrows (within 3 miles of the site) with a Honda ridgeline pulling a 16.6 foot camper the drive was not difficult. We let at truck pass and they took one of the spots, luckily there was still one there. Nice creek running next to camp. Our spott was the one by the outhouse but we didn't smell it nor hear people using it. There is a picnic table at each site as well. We will be back to this area.

As you climb up the mountains surrounding Gardiner, MT - you might think you are driving to nowhere on that curvy, dirt road. After 30 or so minutes of turning, twisting and jumping, you arrive at Timber Campground. The free site is first come first serve and only has three designated spaces. Each space has a picnic table and a fire pit. The campground does also have a bathroom. Though there is no potable water, there is small creek close by. If you are lucky to score a site, consider yourself lucky. It's beautiful.

Beautiful meadow, mature pine trees. Just three camping sites with picnic tables and fire rings. There is a vault toilet. No potable water, but a nice stream crosses under the road near the camp entrance.

This place was exactly what we were looking for. It was very private and peaceful with only 3 campsites. It was gorgeous and I’m very glad we went. Be sure to bring bear spray!
