This was our first campground stay outside of our home state of NJ. We arrived on a Monday evening and the office was already closed. We were able to quickly contact staff to get ourselves setup in our site. The site itself had a slight downslope toward the rear but easy enough for our coach to level. All utilities were located at the drivers side rear of the site which was perfect. The roads are in decent condition and it looks like they’re adding a few more rows of sites and the grounds seem pretty well kept. The lake is pretty and the whole place is surrounded by farmland otherwise. The staff that I’ve had the chance to meet have been great and responded quickly to any of our questions or needs. Unfortunately, in the off-season, the store and office are closed but they are always around to fill propane if needed. There are quite a few full timers here and everyone we had the pleasure of meeting was very friendly. We had no issues. Yes you will hear staff running equipment here and there to keep the campground running and you’ll hear the occasional quad, motorcycle or dirt bike but it’s nothing unreasonable unless you’re stuck up about those kinds of things. It’s been very quiet here at night as well. I wish we could’ve stayed here the whole month but it gets cold fast around here and the wind never seems to let up. Don’t leave your awning out! Can’t wait to come back when it’s warm!
This campground was a Yogi Bear site but since then it has become very run down. The bathrooms are original and definitely need to be cleaned and updated. I would recommend not using them . The pond is full of algae and the advertised boats and kayaks are no where to be seen. Upon check in there was no itinerary to include the guests but there were hay rides nightly golf cart runs poker golf and bags tournaments but if you were not a seasonal you didn’t know about it. The gift shop was poorly stocked and the staff was not friendly. The basketball court was broken as well as the kids jump pillow. The parks were worn down and broken. The ice machine had mold in it use at your own risk. The golf cart we rented was for four but the back seat tilted that you were at risk of falling off. Especially on the pot filled roads throughout the campground I recommend staying somewhere else and recommend the owners put a little pride in their campground and take care of the place or pretty soon you won’t have people coming back because the place is falling apart
Its a nice area, friendly staff, hot showers available, gift shop, food options, ice cream etc. Golf carts you can rent. Only complaint was the pool was down on our visit and we couldn't find good access to fish without a boat. Would stay again.
Very friendly people. There were some fireworks and shouting at night, but it calmed down at about 1030. The spots are pretty well maintained. There is a lot of area to walk around and explore. The lanes are a little narrow. If you have a larger camper it can be tricky to get situated. But if you need help, people are more than willing. Will be back in the future.
Picnic table broken at my site, pool and bathroom are clearly not regularly cleaned (food wrappers, cigarette butts, and used band-aids) and in significant disrepair - in men's restroom, the only urinal was out of order and the showers were disgusting. Don't often write reviews but decided to do so in hope to compel ownership to invest in upgrading their facilities and raise the level of concern in taking better care of this very nice property. With all due respect it's as if no one gives a rip and the campsites are not cheap. The one star is 100% attributed to the friendly staff and I'd gladly return provided these very reasonable concerns were addressed.
We really enjoyed the community environment at timberline's campground. The dance held sat night and church services Sunday Morning were awesome. Plenty to do at this campground.
1st time visiting this campground and won't be the last. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I rented a cabin and requested a fire pit over the phone. 5 minutes into unpacking a staff member showed up and put a fire pit down for me. He also noticed a bunch of thorn bushes near cabin and removed them. The pond was fun to fish, the bathrooms were clean and easily accessible, and the cabin itself was clean and comfortable. I have no complaints and will be returning again. Thanks for the hospitality, Timberline.
Timberline Campground was a great spot for a weekend getaway. The sites were clean and well-kept, and it was nice having full hookups available. The kids loved the pool, the playground, and the wagon rides with the campground mascots, and we all had a good time fishing at the pond. It was really convenient having a little store and snack bar on-site too. Bathrooms and showers were clean, and there were plenty of activities like basketball, volleyball, and pedal carts to keep everyone busy. Overall, a fun, family-friendly campground that's also close enough to Peoria and Bloomington if you want to explore the area. We'll definitely be back.
Had a wonderful time camping! Really appreciate the staff accommodating our family after we were a little too cold in our tent one night and they helped us get a cabin. Hope the new management listens to their employees and continue to make improvements on the property. Thanks to everyone that made our stay special!
Awesome campground for a disc golf trip! Not to far from Northwoods. Would have been 5 star if the ground was level. felt like i was going to roll out of bed in my tent. wont stop me from going back we loved it
