We went to there in midle of Oct. The trail is little steepy and narrow. But breathtaking views. It's possible to go even though with kids, taking short break at each bench. Inside of the cave, Ranger's Tour is awesome! Also, you must need jacket.
Our group had the best experience! Taylor, our ranger, was fantastic, and was super informative and knew so much about the caves, he was so personable and friendly and it was such a fun experience. There are some parts of the cave that are tight and if you’re claustrophobic, it may not be for you, but overall it’s a super fun experience. The hike up there can be steep at parts so make sure you pace yourself. It takes about an hour to get up and an hour to get back down.
The time you buy is the time you suppose to arrive at the visitor center just fyi for those who didn’t read the instruction clearly like me haha. Amazing hike, medium difficulty with fast elevation and switchbacks. Took us an hour, took a lot of breaks and pictures. Benches along the way for resting. The caves are really amazing to see, great informative tour guide. Highly recommend.
The hike is not that scary, but it is really steep. Halfway through, it might feel like there is no end. But the scenic views totally make up for it. I had gotten up there in about 45 minutes or so. It wasn’t a long wait before we had started our tour. Then we had the cave tour with the friendliest guide who had answered many questions about the cave’s history and other fun facts. I loved seeing all the different stalactites and stalagmites and the “cave bacon”. Very enriching experience and I’d 100% do it again.
Fairly strenuous uphill hike. The way is paved which helps a lot. Smaller backpacks allowed, others will not be allowed into the cave. Very sunny, we didn’t encounter any mosquitoes or flies. Parking was hard to get. Had to park a bit away from the visitor center. Tour was delayed so we ended up being on time even though we arrived late. Small visitor shop. The staff was helpful.
