Tom's Cove Park elicits strong emotional responses from its visitors, with some expressing deep personal connections and others voicing severe dissatisfaction. According to positive reviews, the park holds sentimental value for long-time visitors, serving as a cherished getaway and a place to feel close to loved ones. The park is particularly popular during the annual Pony Swim event, which some have enjoyed after many years. However, negative reviews highlight significant concerns about the park's condition and management. The park is described as run-down, with outdated facilities, dusty roads, and numerous potholes. The store is criticized for being overpriced and having limited supplies. The swimming pool is considered too small and overcrowded. The bathrooms and showers are described as consistently dirty and outdated, despite the efforts of a dedicated cleaning staff member who is praised for her hard work. After dark, the park reportedly becomes noisy, with golf carts blaring music, creating a disruptive atmosphere. Management issues are a major point of contention, with the assistant manager, Tiffany, receiving harsh criticism for unprofessional, rude, and dismissive behavior. Guests have reported being treated unfairly and even abruptly evicted. Potential visitors should carefully consider these contrasting reviews and be prepared for a potentially inconsistent experience.

I’ve been coming here my entire life and I very much appreciate the atmosphere. It’s my biggest getaway place and I appreciate all the “toms” taking care of of us. This was one of my mom’s most favorite happy places, and since she passed last year, I really feel close to her every time I’m here. I can’t wait to get a place down here. I came down for the pony swim for the first time in 25 years last year. I had a very good experience.
BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!!! I wish you could leave a zero for this review because this is the worst place to camp. We have been coming to Toms Cove for over 30 years past experiences all great with wonderful memories. This year the worst stay we ever had anywhere. Reservations still cannot be made until you get there, unless you want to snail mail a deposit but that only saves you a site you pick what they have available when you check in. The store is over priced and also has gone down hill over the years very limited supplies and extremely over priced. The grounds are run down and haven't been updated in years,, everything gets dusty from the roads, the pot holes are ridiculous. The swimming pool is over crowed and to small for the amount of guest they pack into this place. The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and they are small. The showers are also tiny and heavily used and are always disgusting. Just run down and outdated. After dark this place becomes a cruising ground for golf carts blaring music, kicking up more dirt cursing and drinking. So if your looking for peace and quite in the evening not the place for that either. To the wonderful lady who tries to clean the bathrooms everyday I hope they pay you well to clean up after all the nasty people who don't take care of others property. You are a kind and caring lady and you do a great job trying to keep those areas clean. Everytime we come across you always treated us kindly and we thank you for that. Now let's move on to the Assistant Manager Tiffany you need to loosen the nose ring and clean your self up if you are representing someone's business you are literally the trashiest person to have interaction with. Unprofessional, rude and think you are in some sort of power. You don't listen to your guest when they try to explain themselves. Your answer appears to be just kick out the other guest for any reason and give them an hour to pack up and go. You need to Google management skills for idiots its not hard. I hope the owners of this campground read this review because they need to be aware that this trash is running off your guest who have faithfully visited your campground for years. BEWARE ALL DO NOT STAY HERE.
We started out at Tom's over 20+ years ago, our girls have grown up loving our vacations with family and many friends at Tom's Cove Campground. The last few years have been pretty rough there with Tiffany whom is not friendly and can be quite nasty! Dave the manage, Isn't any nicer! Pony swim 2023 went down in the books as one of the most disheartening vacations we have ever had at Tom's. It started out with our reservations, we have been requesting the sites for the following year in December for over 20 years. I had accidentally requested 3 waterftont sites with the wrong letter in front of the number/ and the other 3 were correct. We requested 6 sites and were not given any of the ones we requested? When I got upset because they didn't even put the group together nor did they make sure the campers would fit on the sites they put us on, they did not honor any of our requests. I was accused of making someone Cry? There was never anyone crying in the office. Tiffany decided to put our 44 ft. fifth wheels in P16 & P17, after stating we wouldn't fit she moved us all over P11 & P10 ( poop sites) P67 & P66 they were completely underwater and 2 foot deep mud, no water front sites were honored 017, 016, 015, 014 and there were water front sites open the entire ten days we were there. We had to put a camper in backwards on P66 just so it wouldn't sink int the mud or get stuck in the mud. As did the previous people that were on the site before us. The Campsites stayed muddy and nasty with standing water for the whole 10 day stay. We pushed our screened tent bach toward the field on the back of our sites and made the best of it until a camper pulled in behind us 5 days later for the swim. The woman in that camper had pushed the entire camper back 20 ft off the road and directly behind us and complained we were in her site and needed us to move our stuff over into the mud because she didn't care what we were dealing with, she was putting her grill right where our easy up was? She wasn't the least bit friendly. She went and complained to Tiffany and Dave, we were told we either move it or leave? Dave backed Tiffany on every thing she said.
If I could leave negative stars, I would. This place has turned into a complete dump. The "management" running it need to be taught management skills, they are seriously lacking in all areas, but I'll come back to that. We have been camping at Tom's Cove for over 25 years. Over the past 5 years it's really gone down-hill, but nothing like our visit this week. We paid our deposits in April, and requested 3 spots together. Once we arrived they put a spot in between our group, and upon questioning it the assistant manager completey snapped at me and said "this has been happening all day, there's someone coming in today who is staying for 3 weeks, we do the best we can." So I left it at that. Fast forward 3 days, the "someone" who was coming in, was still not there. So we had an empty spot between our group for the duration of our stay. The pool was closed all week long... (in the middle of JULY) The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. The grass wasn't cut. Trash was overflowing in every dumpster. I've never encountered such a disrespectful person in management. They need to be taught management skills, or perhaps find a new job where it's acceptable to speak with people the way we were spoke to. We will not be back, and I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere. The place is a dump, it's turned into quite a disgrace, which I feel is a direct reflection of the management team in place. DO NOT STAY HERE.
Tom’s Cove was an excellent location for the pony swim and events. The ponies can easily be seen from the docks at the campground, The town, local restaurants, marina, park and fairgrounds are all easily bikeable. The traffic is busy but roads are very bike friendly and feel safe. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean and maintained The campground roads were a mess because of the rain. However, they had a loader out each day fixing the ruts and distributing the stone. The campground internet was terrible. Non existent for working on a computer, but sufficient for tv watching. Even AT&T phone service was bad.
