Explore family camping activities that bring all ages together, from outdoor games and scenic hikes to memorable campfire fun that creates lasting memories.
**Introduction / Overview**
For Mississippi campers and outdoor enthusiasts in the Golden Triangle region, **Town Creek Campground** stands out as a premier destination for scenic and amenity-rich recreational experiences. Located near West Point, MS, this beautiful park is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) and is proudly situated on the **Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway** along the banks of **Columbus Lake**.
Town Creek Campground is celebrated by local users for being a heavily wooded, well-maintained park offering a quintessential blend of water access and land-based leisure. It caters exceptionally well to families, RV owners, and those seeking a comfortable, activity-packed camping experience. With over 100 sites, the park ensures that you’re surrounded by nature without sacrificing modern conveniences.
Customer reviews consistently praise the quality of the sites, noting they are "clean and spacious" with most featuring a concrete pad, graveled patio, and essential outdoor cooking facilities. The park truly shines by offering dual waterfront experiences: camping along the massive Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and enjoying the smaller, more tranquil **Kennedy Lake** located on a hilltop within the recreation area. However, potential visitors should know that its popularity, particularly in summer, means you can expect a lively, family-oriented atmosphere with many kids and RVs, making it more of a community-focused hub than a remote, quiet wilderness retreat.
**Location and Accessibility**
Town Creek Campground benefits from a highly accessible yet beautifully secluded location near West Point, MS, putting it just minutes away from the conveniences of both West Point and Columbus. This central location in the Golden Triangle makes it a perfect weekend getaway for residents across East Mississippi.

The campground is strategically positioned to maximize the experience of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway, locally known as the "Tenn-Tom." The area is readily reachable from U.S. 45 and U.S. 50, and while the access roads are local, they are generally manageable for even larger RVs, as attested by long-time campers. This accessibility also means that nearby attractions—including the **Columbus Air Force Base** (sometimes resulting in overhead jet noise, which some visitors enjoy) and the historic **Waverley Mansion**—are within a short driving distance, allowing you to easily combine your camping trip with sightseeing and local dining.
**Services Offered**
Town Creek Campground excels at providing a full range of services tailored to both the modern RV camper and the traditional tent enthusiast, ensuring a comfortable and well-supported stay. The services reflect the high standards of a COE facility:

This is a beautiful park in a heavily wooded area. Sites are clean and spacious. Most sites have a concrete pad, graveled patio with picnic table, grill and fire ring. Many sites are right along the river. There is a boat ramp for river access. There is also a small lake with a paved path surrounding it. Also there is a paved bike path which meanders through the woods. It is short but beautiful. Playground for the kiddos.
The place deserves 5 star however the website (recreation.gov) is not much helpful, and the lack of pictures and information leave us without better choices of the suitable spots to pick for camping. Me and my husband were planning on staying for 2 nights, but when we got there we were surprised by the amount of kids and RVs around our spot, and we ended up staying one night only. It is a wonderful place for kids and for fishing in the river too. The structure and safety is good also for elderly people. If you are planning to have some adventure time in the woods, long distance hiking and quiet places you might try another place to go or a different season other than the summer.
It was a fine place to stop on the way to somewhere. But not really a destination in itself. It advertised as having multiple playgrounds which I did not find. We have kids and we’re looking g forward to camping near one of the playgrounds so the kids could play with others. Unfortunately the only one we found was a swing set and no other kids. We had fun away of course. The river is fun and the shade is very nice. The campsites seem to be well maintained.
We come here all the time. Beautiful area. First time for Halloween 🎃 I will say this is must for people with small children. Great job to all the park host.
Awesome place great environment and that pond has robotic fish! 👀 Good luck catching em 🎣
