Travel Resorts of America Introduce

For us North Carolinians who cherish the freedom of the open road and the joy of camping, finding consistent quality and value in our outdoor adventures can be a game-changer. That's where Travel Resorts of America comes into play. While the address in Southern Pines, NC, serves as their corporate office, this isn't a public campground itself. Instead, it's the nerve center for a premier, membership-based network of RV resorts and campgrounds that promises a more luxurious and amenity-rich camping experience. With a strong presence, including their founding resort, Sycamore Lodge, right here in North Carolina, Travel Resorts of America offers locals a gateway to a curated collection of deluxe parks designed for memorable family vacations. This article will help you understand their unique model and how it can elevate your camping experiences, both within and beyond our beautiful state.

The corporate office for Travel Resorts of America is located at 1930 N Poplar St, Southern Pines, NC 28387, USA. This address places them firmly in the heart of North Carolina's renowned Sandhills region, an area celebrated for its world-class golf, charming towns, and beautiful natural landscapes. While this is an administrative office and not a campground you can stay at directly, its location in Southern Pines signifies the company's strong roots in our state, as their very first resort, Sycamore Lodge, was established in nearby Jackson Springs.

For North Carolina locals, Southern Pines is highly accessible. It's a short drive from major population centers like Fayetteville, Raleigh, and Charlotte via well-maintained state highways and interstates. The town itself is a picturesque destination known for its equestrian heritage, vibrant downtown, and proximity to Pinehurst, the "Home of American Golf." This central location makes the Travel Resorts of America office easily reachable for potential members or those seeking information about their network of resorts. While you won't be pitching a tent or parking an RV at this specific address, it represents the hub from which a network of high-quality camping experiences are managed, providing a convenient point of contact for anyone looking to explore their membership options for vacations across the East Coast and Midwest.

As a membership-based organization operating a network of RV resorts, Travel Resorts of America provides a comprehensive suite of services and amenities across its various properties, designed for a more luxurious camping experience. While the Southern Pines address is an office, the services you can expect at their actual resorts, such as Sycamore Lodge in North Carolina, generally include:

  • Full RV Hookups: All resorts typically offer sites with complete hookups, including 20/30/50 amp electricity, water, and sewer connections, accommodating RVs of all sizes.

  • Unlimited Wi-Fi: Many resorts provide unlimited Wi-Fi access, allowing members to stay connected, stream entertainment, or work remotely.

  • Variety of Accommodations: Beyond RV sites, resorts often feature unique cabin rentals (including fully furnished cabins with amenities like fireplaces and private baths) and designated tent sites.

  • Swimming Pools & Hot Tubs: Most resorts boast swimming pools, and often Jacuzzi complexes, for relaxation and recreation.

  • Recreational Facilities: Common amenities include mini-golf, playgrounds for children, sports courts (e.g., basketball, volleyball, pickleball), and ball fields.

  • Lakes/Ponds for Water Activities: Resorts often have on-site lakes, ponds, or access to rivers for activities like fishing (sometimes stocked for catch-and-release), paddle boating, canoeing, and kayaking.

  • Bathhouses & Laundry Facilities: Clean, state-of-the-art bathhouses with hot showers and convenient laundry facilities are standard.

  • Planned & Themed Events: Many resorts offer a robust schedule of planned activities and themed weekend events, including live music, BBQs, and dances, fostering a strong community atmosphere.

  • General Store: On-site convenience stores are typically available for last-minute supplies, snacks, and camping essentials.

  • Pet-Friendly Policies: Most resorts are pet-friendly, allowing furry family members to join the fun (though specific rules and potential fees may apply).

  • Security Features: Many resorts offer enhanced security, such as gated entrances, for peace of mind.

Travel Resorts of America distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that emphasize a premium, membership-based camping experience, particularly beneficial for dedicated RVers and frequent campers.

  • Membership-Based Access: This is the core model. Instead of nightly rates for public campgrounds, members gain exclusive access to a network of private RV resorts. This fosters a sense of community and provides guaranteed access to high-quality amenities.

  • Extensive Network of Resorts: With 11 deluxe parks spread across the East Coast and Midwest, members have a wide variety of destinations to choose from, ranging from lakeside retreats to historically significant locations. This offers diverse travel opportunities without compromising on quality.

  • Commitment to Customer Experience: Reviews often highlight exceptional customer service, from initial booking agents like Roy, who made the process "so simple and was extremely patient," to on-site staff like Sharon at Sycamore Lodge, who is described as "wonderful." This dedication to service creates a positive and welcoming environment.

  • Luxurious Accommodations: Beyond standard RV sites, the inclusion of unique cabins with home-like amenities (e.g., fireplaces, satellite TV) offers flexibility and a higher level of comfort for those seeking a glamping experience or who don't own an RV.

  • Rich Activity Programs: The emphasis on planned and themed events, combined with a wide range of recreational facilities (pools, mini-golf, sports courts), ensures there's always something to do for all ages, promoting a fun and engaging atmosphere.

  • Beautiful Natural Settings: Resorts are strategically located in scenic environments, such as the shaded acres of Carolina pines at Sycamore Lodge or the Ponderosa pines of the Black Hills at Rushmore Shadows, providing a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and outdoor activities.

  • Over 35 Years of Experience: Founded in 1986, Travel Resorts of America has a long-standing history in the camping community, demonstrating stability and a proven track record in resort development and management.

I just made a reservation for a lodge at Rushmore Shadows with Roy. He was amazing, best customer experience I have had since Travel Resorts took over. Thanks so much! We have been coming out to Rushmore Shadows for years, just love the place and the Black Hills

this place is a scam. my parents bought a membership back in 2011 it is well payed off. my dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 so we went to minimize our bills and i was going through his accounts and found this payment, we reached out to cancel and they said someone would reach out to cancel and never heard from them. two years later my parents are STILL paying this monthly payment. we haven’t been in 10 years. we got on the phone today with travel resorts and they told us it’s a 30 year contract that they signed. my parents asked for a signed copy with their signatures to be sent to them and they refused to send it to them. they instead said that they can pay it off early and pay $3999. all in all this place is sketchy and lies to people because they aren’t making any money and have to scam people into making money. wouldn’t recommend going here.

I just did my 90 day ahead reservation for Bass Lake and I had a great experience with the website that allowed me to do it all through a chat person named Karen. She did an excellent job of walking me through everything and it was so simple. Much better than some of the grumpy voice people that you get When you are stressed out, trying to make reservations. Great technology love it thank you so much

Do not purchase into Travel Resorts of America! We purchased into Midwest Outdoor Resorts, where we had a wonderful time. Fast forward to 2022 when TRA bought it over and we have lost our PRIVATE camping that TRA BOASTS ABOUT. We have also completely lost one campground to KOA, and another is just years away from the same thing. The staff at the non-koa are very friendly and keep a happy face, even though they need vasoline more than ever before.
