Travelodge by Wyndham Lake George NY

Dirty, smelly, unkept grounds, language communication with office extremely challenging (legit or an act?!?). We had stayed there years ago & it was fine, the mountain view is beautiful so we looked forward to staying there again. To be transparent, sadly we had not looked at current reviews, we had only gone on our past stay & we trusted the brand of "by Wyndham". BIG MISTAKE! ROOM #1. The 1st. morning, when i stepped into the shower & closed the curtain, BLACK MOLD! I am posting 1 pic not all the moldy shower curtain pics & video. Bathroom flooring should have been replaced 25 years ago (discoloured/sticky). Wallpaper around bathroom sink peeling off in areas & bubbly in others. Lampshade liner cracked & the bottom edging hanging down. 1 lampshade could not be turned on - broken knob. Another lampshade had no where to plug in. 3 garbage cans of various sizes outside our room overflowing & not emptied. SO after our 1st night, we demanded a refund/moved (black mold on inner shower curtain). This is when the communication on their end became impossible leading to us wondering if it was legit or an act. ROOM #2. We were given a room key to check onother room. It was a bit better, but chances were that anything would have been better. This one looked like the photo husband had seen online when he booked. But again cracked lampshade on one side of bed & the other had no where to plug in, the bathroom window was cracked & taped, the shower knob was installed upside down. In both rooms, the wall kleenex container was empty. The coffee machine is just for show. OUTSIDE: The exterior walkways at the very least required even a simple sweeping. See my photos, a picture is worth a 100 words. As you drive up the hill to the hotel, the driveway is cracked, the over grown grass/landscaping clearly is not important. The office hours although posted on the window sign is not factual. Twice we arrived to it closed up, no lights on when the sign told us it would be open. Then there is the communication or lack thereof issue with registration office person, that is simply painful. We came back home & washed everything in our suitcases including vacumning/ spraying our suitcases inside & out. We each took a shower because we felt gross. I am ending with this..... husband went back to room #1 with a office guy who showed up a 1/2 hour after the official opening of 8am, office juy doesn't understand english very well (or does he). Office guy does remove the shower curtain when shown the black mold. Then husband points out the peeling bubbly wallpaper, the mold in celing corner in main room, he doesnt need to point out the lampshade with the edging drooping off (anyone with one wonky eye would see that). AND I END WITH THIS - HUSBAND TAKES THE GUY OVER TO THE WINDOW FACING THE PARKING LOT & POINTS TO SOMETHING ON THE WALL. OFFICE GUY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE VERBAL WORDS OF "THIS LOOKS LIKE SNOT/BOOGER ON THE WALL". SO HUSBAND MIMES A FINGER UP TO THE KNUCKLE & WIPING ON THE WALL!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST DON'T IT. I took 30 + pics & 2 videos as our proof to provide to customer care. Our lesson learned the hard way is- we will never trust a past favourable travel experience again, we will read reviews!!!

A mouse chewed on my belongings in room 304! about an hour after checking in I noticed a hole in the corner, and sure enough as my fiance and I were trying to sleep things kept moving on the night stand, eventually I looked over and saw a mouse just chewing on my bag of chips. tried checking out at the "24/7" front desk advertised online but there was no one there, so I couldn't ask for a refund. I'm pretty sure the people above us were long term renters, openly drinking alcohol on the walkway area outside their door and loudly talking/yelling at each other until about 2am. there is zero reason to stay here, drive somewhere else and spend an extra $20-30.

It’s a $65 room….Stayed in 254. View of the lake was decent, sheets clean, TV, AC, fridge, hot water and toilet all worked well. Door locked and there was fair lighting to park over in the middle of the lot at night. We came at 3pm for check in, changed for a wedding and slept 11pm to 6am. It’s not a hotel I’d want to hang out in all day but it’s plenty functional for event prep and sleeping. Really just needs the lawn/ grounds better maintained and more parking lot lighting.

Top of the mountain, views are spectacular! If you’re looking for luxury this isn’t it. This is a great place close to lake George where you can rest your head with fresh air of the mountains outside of your door and a pool to cool down in. Staff lived on premise so of course they were responsive but this is like staying in a cabin so don’t expect the Marriott.

Stayed in room 346 from at the end of July. The staff went above and beyond for us. They were so friendly and very respectful. No matter what we needed they found a way to get it ir help get it. Thank you all for the great stay! And great pool! And clean rooms !
