Travelodge by Wyndham Watertown

This motel overcharged me 365 dollars. They do not answer the phone or have an e-mail address. I attempted to contact them through the third party booking website....no response. Fortunately my credit card has been able to retrieve the money. The red flag should have been the number of cars in the parking lot....nonr.

This is an older facility. Everything looks dated and worn. The entire place had a musty smell. The smell was worse inside the rooms. The rooms were small and cramped. There were not a lot of outlets in the rooms. The accessible room had an ill-placed grab bar near the toilet and in the shower. The breakfast was scant. Not much variety, and no hot food. Even though the room slept four people (two double beds), the facility charged $15 + tax, for any 'extra' people (beyond two), per night.

We’ve stayed there for years and were pleased in the past. But this time Elevator out of order, no breakfast altho advertised. We had no cold water in the tub- just boiling hot which made bath and shower impossible. This was confirmed by employee. Girl at the desk had no interest in doing anything about it- or reducing cost of our stay. Management never contacted us.

Well well, where do I start. We arrive at the hotel, we were 1 of 3 cars in the parking lot. I walk in to register, the person at the desk greats me properly (very monotone), but still properly none the less. The first thing I notice is the "out of order sign" on the elevator. I said I hope my room is not on the second floor, "he said no". The next this he said was that the Continental Breakfast is broken, and there is none. I said the breakfast is broken? "He replied yes", I laughed and said ok. I should have been told this ahead of arriving, by the hotel or Wyndham, I would have canceled the reservations and gone somewhere else. Got my keys to the room, went back to the car got the luggage, as we are walking in the hallway towards our room, the smell of must was in the air. (not a good sign), we get into the room, the room was very clean, spacious, even had bed bug mattress covers. The washroom was ok, shower curtain does not open up all the way, so water gets on the floor, and there is no ventilation extraction in the washroom, so make sure you leave the door open when you take a shower. We noticed that there was only 3 towels, I went back to the front desk and asked for more, the front desk replied "sorry we don't have more towels"....In the 40 years of traveling to hotels I have never been told that. How can you be out of towels, there were 3 cars in parking lot. I should have been compensated for something. I asked the front desk and he said no. The TV remote did not work. I asked the front desk, the came and they could not figure it out. I have been passing through Watertown for over 40 years. This is the last time I will stay at the Travelodge.

Travellers BEWARE: food is terrible, rooms are like a dungeon, elevator has been broken for years, the smell smells worse the an old bar that had a smoking section, bug infested rooms and extremely poor customer service. I asked for the hotel to get back to me about my experience because if you leave a bad review on here the manager goes absolutely crazy with attacking and will refuse to communicate…. However the owners and managers refuse to communicate with anyone in general. I guess maybe that’s because I’m not American and the minute the guy behind the desk noticed my different accent he was extremely rude towards me from the beginning. I said hello and his smile changed and he wanted me out. And yes I posted this Review on The Inn at 81 as that’s what the hotel used to be called over 8 years ago when they had decent management , clean rooms and the bread wasn’t stale at breakfast. I seriously cannot believe how downhill the new people have pushed this hotel.
