Tunnel Hill Campground And RV Park Introduce
Welcome to Tunnel Hill Campground And RV Park, located at 3932 Trans-Canada Hwy, Malahat, BC V0R 1L3, Canada, serving the needs of travelers within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. Based on recent customer feedback, experiences at this location appear to vary.
Regarding the environment, one reviewer noted that the campsites are very close together, offering zero privacy, which prompted them to purchase tarps for more seclusion. This suggests that the layout may not provide a secluded natural setting for campers. However, another long-term resident living in their 5th wheel described it as a nice place to live, indicating a potentially different experience for longer-term stays.
In terms of services and features, the bathrooms are highlighted as being really nice and well-kept. However, there are additional charges for some amenities, including $1 for 5 minutes of shower time and $4 per load for laundry. One reviewer also mentioned the presence of signage that gave off a "Karen vibe," though specific details were not provided. There was also a feeling reported by a short-term visitor of being watched by the groundskeeper, which made their stay feel odd.
No specific promotional information is available in the provided reviews. Based on the feedback, it appears that Tunnel Hill Campground And RV Park may cater to a mix of short-term travelers and longer-term residents. Very meh.. we stayed 2 nights only because we couldn't find anywhere else.. First night, the lady grounds keeper kept driving by our site about 20 times every 15 mins.. from what I seen we were the only non full time campers, and that felt really odd like we were being watched.. sites are VERY CLOSE and zero privacy, we actually went and bought Tarps.. the bathrooms are actually really nice and well kept, but the signage everywhere is a bit of a Karen vibe. $1 for 5 mins of shower time $4 buck a load for laundry 100% would not stay here again.
Being living in my 5th wheel for 6 months ,I think it's a nice place to live.
Title: A Nightmare at Tunnel Hill Campground: Unfriendly Staff, Inconvenient Rules, and Poor Conditions Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ My recent experience at Tunnel Hill Campground was nothing short of a disaster. From the moment I arrived, it became abundantly clear that the staff and owners were more interested in making my stay as difficult as possible rather than providing a pleasant camping experience. First and foremost, the staff at Tunnel Hill Campground were incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful. It seemed as though they took pleasure in enforcing arbitrary rules that were designed to inconvenience guests. It was as if they made up these rules on the fly just to exert control and make our stay as unpleasant as possible. One of the most absurd rules they enforced was the restriction on using the showers and washrooms after 8pm every day. I understand the need for some regulations, but seriously, who wants to be denied access to basic hygiene facilities during their camping trip? To make matters worse, they conveniently failed to provide change for the showers, leaving guests scrambling to find a way to freshen up. But the restrictions didn't end there. The campground had the audacity to limit garbage disposal to a narrow window between 6am and 6pm. And even during those hours, they imposed strict limitations on the amount of garbage one could dispose of. As if camping isn't already challenging enough, Tunnel Hill Campground seemed determined to make it even more inconvenient by restricting the disposal of waste. To add insult to injury, the only place on the entire grounds where one could access the internet was in the common areas. However, instead of providing a welcoming environment for guests to connect with the outside world, they posted obnoxious "NO LOITERING" signs. It was as if they wanted to ensure that guests felt unwelcome and isolated during their stay. The disappointment continued with the condition of the campsites. They were incredibly small and lacked any form of tree cover, leaving us exposed to the scorching sun and dusty surroundings. It felt more like camping in a barren wasteland than a serene natural setting. The lack of shade and cramped spaces made it nearly impossible to find any respite from the elements. To make matters worse, the price we were initially quoted for a month's stay was already steep. However, upon checking in, we were informed that an additional $400 was required on top of the $800 we had already agreed upon. This sudden and significant increase in price was completely unjustified and left us feeling deceived and taken advantage of. As if the inflated price wasn't enough, the campground also demanded a deposit, claiming it was not part of the overall cost. This unexpected charge further added to our frustration and left us questioning the integrity of the campground's management. Additionally, they insisted on a hydro deposit, despite it being clearly stated that all utilities were included in our monthly rental cost. It was a blatant attempt to squeeze even more money out of unsuspecting guests. Overall, my experience at Tunnel Hill Campground was a complete nightmare. The unfriendly and unhelpful staff, coupled with their absurd and inconvenient rules, made for an incredibly unpleasant stay. The poor condition of the sites, lack of tree cover, exorbitant prices, and unexpected additional charges left me feeling utterly dissatisfied. I strongly advise anyone considering this campground to steer clear and find a more reputable and reasonably priced alternative.
No signs coming from the north. Did not see the uturn in time and had to drive all the way down the Malahat to turn around Sani connect had a very small hole. Could not connect. Placed hose over hole and piled rocks around to hold in place Quiet at night. Friendly people but almost all were living here permanently
Unfortunately, as per the latest review - the lady the review spoke of ( Karen), who has become a dictator has created a now non issue- year long residency at tunnel hill - for me go sour in just a day. This day got me “evicted” with less than 10 days notice, they are happy for me to be homeless to defend lies and false accusations. , with fabricated stories from “Karen” who has many “friends” or “clicks” in the compound, has been trying to make my life further hell by turning the people closest to me against me with more lies Want a trip back to middles school - camp here. Unfortunately this leaves a very bad taste, one if not resolved will end in more than a bad review, las they believe abuse. Intimidation and no concern for children while throwing down the worst obscenities and personal insults and attacks while I was trying to assist autistic kid next door and the difficulties of emo regulation. I drove with music louder and about 11 kms instead of the 5 kms signed. Drive 11 kns anywhere you’ll see - safety issues aren’t High. I have been met with harassment, police involvementand then trying to get many on their side to get out of this absolute madness ever. I will not stop until there is justice for my young friend. And for compensation for my eviction as well as much more. “Karen” and her complete terrorization of me with an “I don’t care if there’s a kid in the car!” Screamed, after I asked them to sto..More joined. I was intimidated, shamed, degraded not to mention a few. My Autidtic friend (11y old) def got the lesson of what it looks like when he is unreasonable, childish and intimidating to his mother (unintentionally). These are the examples of adults in this compound. . If you want a police state camp ground - camp here. If you are looking to lose any possible’s of joy, friendship or happiness; this is your spot. Can’t imagine why “Karen@ has so much power. Unfortunate as it is, it has such potential with different staff. Sad to say leaving I’ll leave behind a few really awesome folks, and particularly my good mate Danny. But the harassment - and sure to be continued in their reply below?? - is reason i dont feel safe even being there currently. Calling in my car with my two dogs in the woods until i can move - not easy on such short notice with a trailer. TH, less than a week ago gave me a rave review - after I helped with the owners brothers little Pomeranian. Because of “Karen” and her vulture actions I’m curious to see if they change their mind to make me look bad too in reviews. I won’t be silenced. I would love a resolution to change this review - but while “Karen” runs the park, her need to defend as well as her over inflated ego + control over management 🤭 has created much contention in the park. For someone who barely works in her job otherwise being rude and abusing people, I wonder —- what is her job actually ?? If they (TH) don’t see a problem with this behaviour - in the near future amongst a lack of ability of conflict resolution and any kind of compassion, ability to listen etc they stand to lose it all as there are more issues arising all the time. I hope the owner of TH will see what’s happening and resolve this awful, unjust and debilitating situation Cheers.
