We arrived late at night, but to our surprise, this place was incredibly amazing! It was a breeze to pull in and unhook the trailer. The views were breathtaking! I highly recommend it. The soothing sound of the creek flowing down added to the peaceful ambiance, making it an ideal spot for my family and me. I had a wonderful time here, especially considering its proximity to the Alabama Hills!
Campground has beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Night time the stars are amazing. 360-degree views. Sites are spacious with a fire ring and lantern hanger. The morning we left, we had a dusting of snow.
Beautiful views, sunrise, and sunsets are so gorgeous. Campsites are far apart for privacy. The price is $10.00 a night. $5.00 with your senior discount. Bathrooms are clean. There's garbage pickup and a dump station.
Too many wasps when we were there, and the water was only at the entrance of the campground. But the location was good.
Tuttle Creek turned out to be a fantastic surprise with the well kept campsite clean bathrooms and plenty of room for large and smaller vehicles. Each campsite had a designated parking spot for my vehicle with a fire ring and a solid table to setup my gas stove and enjoy a nice outdoor meal. The stunning views of the Sierra Nevada mountains in the distance made for a truly tranquil setting. It’s dog friendly and the cost was maybe five or ten dollars per night, making it incredibly affordable for such a wonderful experience. It’s a very convenient place to camp especially if you’re interested in hiking while surrounded by mountains of the most beautiful kind. The hiking trails in the area offer a range of difficulty levels, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. These are just a few of the photos I took while camping at Tuttle Creek Campground in Lone Pine, California.
Great little BLM campground! The fee is $10/night, and $5 with your senior/access pass. The views of the Eastern Sierra Mountains and Alabama Hills are unbelievable. You are close to Mt. Whitney and Alabama Hills. The restrooms are pit toilets, which could use a little love. There is a creek splitting the two sides of the campground. Bugs are biting. Potable water is available, as well as a dump station for a $10 fee. Dumpsters are at the entrance. You can stay up to 30 days with a permit from the BLM office.
Camped here last minute on our way through the area… it’s first come first serve but luckily we found a spot - we arrived around sunset… it’s in a beautiful location and super cheap for such an awesome campground. Has toilets, picnic table, grill, nice tent pads, etc. very clean, spacious for car camping - it was full and we didn’t feel cramped at all. You can also have fires in the fire ring - big plus. The road in/out is easily passable. Lots of nearby hikes and amazing views camping right underneath Mt Whitney… spectacular place when you consider price, quiet, accessible but also far from town, amenities, etc. Definitely plan to stay here more!
We went on the 2nd week of April on a Friday and it was packed! We were lucky enough to snag campsite no. 78 after searching all 83 sites. It's first come, first serve. The gods of camping were watching over us because 78 is actually one of the bigger sites. You could fit a large tent and maybe 2 medium-sized tents in it. The creek was also behind us. The water was clean, full of trout and it provided some ambient sound for sleep. It was also a full moon so it provided some great nighttime shots of the sierra Nevada mountains even with just your smartphone. Just be cautious if you're tent camping. It can get pretty windy all of a sudden after a few hours of calm. Make sure you have your tent stakes. We had to use ours and put rocks on top of it. There was no water available and the dump station was still closed. Vault toilets were clean. In summary, despite the wind and no water, we thoroughly enjoyed this campground. For 10 dollars a night and with the great views and ambient sound of the creek, it's hard to beat!
81 RV/ tent sites. BLM campground with $10 per night fee. Most all sights are back in with fire ring and picnic table. Has a dump site for $10 fee. Sites are hard pack but not level. Sites aren't ideal if you have a 5th wheel or MH over 35" as road is narrow and sites are at 90° to back in to. Can't beat the view of the mountains. 5500 feet elevation high desert.
