Great spot to camp. Nice facilities. Tent sites right on the water. Bathhouses were clean. Some boat traffic, but that’s to be expected. Water spigots throughout. Couldn’t reserve one night online, but showed up and paid with cash with the campground host. They also take card. Close to the dam and swimming area and boat launch. They accept the America the beautiful pass for a discount. Area is dog friendly (must be leashed). Would be nice to have more bathrooms, as they were far away and quite small (two stalls).
First off, my family really enjoyed the park. However, I took off one star: I assume because it wasn't as busy (fall break), they closed half the restrooms. That meant that we often weren't able to go to the restroom at all, and never the three of us in the same area, meaning one of us had to bring our 12 year old in with us or take turns. There was also no toilet paper on two different occasions. If you close half the restrooms, cleaning and maintaining has to happen more often. The other thing that bothered me is that a guy with a huge mower spent HOURS blowing the almost-no leaves from the road. It was really loud, and the smell was obnoxious. I like how the campsites were set up to pull in, but the website doesn't describe any sites or have photos of them, so I can imagine bigger campers would have difficulties parking. We would come again.
Always a great experience to Camp at Melton Hill. Very will managed campground. Spacious sites, great views, and friendly, efficient staff.
The 2 female employees were rude and unable to have a conversation when asked about prelonged stay of 21 day rule. The printed rules stated 21 consecutive stay with a 1 day removal before re renting , it was a misprint and should have said 14 days. The need to threaten me with reminding me they can ask me to leave was uncalled for as my family is local and have enjoyed this portion of tva properties for 48 years . We are a large family and have always felt welcomed until today . The 17 days in a mnth that have been rented have not been consecutive or even on the same tent lot.
Locals need to clean up after themselves better but other than that is such a cute eco friendly dam. I enjoy it every time
