This is a private campground known as Camp Rad. There are a small number of campsites which have good privacy. The camp host is very responsive, friendly and has lots of firewood available. There is a small trail that leads to a little creek. This is across the road from the beach, you will hear the noise of the road and cars if your campsite is close to the road. The sound of the waves on the ocean excellent and provide a good backdrop for a night sleep in a tent. The fire pits and table and chairs are well set up. There is a porta potty available. I recommend coming here during the day as the road is hard to find and you must follow instructions carefully. Enjoy
Very cozy campground. Went there this early November which is probably "off season," so my wife and I had the area to ourselves other than the nice groundskeeper and his pup. Owner was quick to respond to questions. Very quiet area while we were there. Yes, you can hear some passing cars occasionally but it did not bother us, and it is worth it being in walking distance to the beach. The community shelter might have spoiled us for casual camping, it was so nice being able to cuddle up and cook dinner on the wood stove while we listened to the rain and music. Already planning on coming back next year.
Best campground I've been to. Camp host chopped firewood and shared stories around fire pit in central area. Hot dogs, s'mores, 2min river walk to beach for red sunset. Frisbee, bike riding, beach, etc. Great people, fun place🤙
I went looking for a place to camp with good reviews and somehow missed the sign. Google maps go me there and the sign said no camping. The road away from the coast had no camping signs. looked like a bust for me.
I know it as Camp RAD. Best place on the coast.
Beautiful spot close to the beach and a wonderful camp host (Dave). We'll be back. We found it hard to find so I'm adding some photos. Pay attention to the street number (38770) on the highway, enter the gate on the right of the sign, and turn on your first right.
