Nice campground with clean bathrooms, hot showers and running water nearby. Very close to several trails to the Buffalo National River and lookout points. Easy access to kayak launches. Big trees for shade and nice pads for your tent. There's more stars than you can count once the Sun goes down. Highly recommend!
I stayed at site 9 for 6 nights. It was awesome. Camp host was just a ways down. She was the sweetest lady and was very knowledgeable of the area. The bathroom/shower house was fair, I guess pretty clean for a campsite (I get spoiled at my regular campsite in Tahlequah where the bathrooms are clean as a hotel). Visitor center was awesome, full of knowledge, and super helpful. Several nearby hiking trails with beautiful creeks, bluffs, and cliffs. Also, there are multiple places within an hour to rent kayaks, canoes, or rafts. I would definitely go back! Thank you, Tyler Bend Campground - I had the best time, hope to visit again soon!!
great campsite near Buffalo National River, $20 a night, they have 15 sites are first come first serve. So if you come around weekdays, you should be good just walk in. Or you can reserve online beforehand. This place is very peaceful. Has restroom, shower, dump station, trash can etc. might need a 4x4 to get to the river.
We loved camping here. It was our first time! My boys were very happy. They keep the bathrooms clean, and the campsite was clean and nicely mowed. We will come back!
Nice campground in a really beautiful spot right on the Buffalo, but there is a tick infestation. We hiked Spring Hollow Trail to the Homestead spot and picked off over 100 ticks (easily) from our two dogs. I’m from Wisconsin and never have seen something like that. Many were Lone Star, but there was quite the variety. Came back to the campsite and noticed ticks crawling on the pavement - not sure if the dogs brought some back with them or if they’re everywhere. We’ll be leaving the campground early which is unfortunate because we had such a great time. Visitor center is closed Tuesday and Wednesday currently. Also didn’t know this was a Dark Sky Park!
There is a very nice setup to view the stars while camping in this Dark Skies park. I also recommend the trails directly at the campsite. Beautiful views plus some history. I was looking everywhere online for something about the bathrooms in case you wanted to shower while you go camping. There is a shower, it is very good for camping. It was clean when I went, but it sounds like occasionally things happen. However, it also sounds like they're pretty quick about cleaning things up. So I would feel safe about using them. If you are a person that needs a shower, when you go camping,
Good place to camp for hiking or preparation for a river trip down the Buffalo National River. Strictly camp sites there are no water or electrical hookups, but there are places to fill a water container placed around the campground. The group camping area is available with a restrooms. Clean restrooms and restrooms on mainloop have two showers. There is a Host in the campground to help with any problem or answer a question. There isn't a playground for kids there.
Great put-in location. We left a car there for our canoe trip and did about 60 miles down to the White River in 3.5 days. Tons of camping spots along the river on the way. Highly recommend.
