I first went here in 2013 when my aunt was getting married. The location was great and there's an awesome little gift shop down the road that had a lot to offer. My favorite memory of this place though is the crab traps that were set up in the back. It was something I hasn't seen before and it gave everyone visiting there something to bond over. Ny fiance and I are actually planning to rent here for a week in the summer for our honeymoon.
We rented the yellow cottage for a last minute getaway for the weekend. Most of the reviews are accurate. If you're looking for the "Ritz", this is not it. It is quaint and cute. The cabins are older and the one we stayed in definitely had that 70's/80's aesthetic. The AC window unit worked very well, and the water stayed hot for a long time. Miss Gloria was the sweetest and let me accompany her to feed her donkeys and pony. She was very helpful with restaurant recommendations as well. After we checked out on Sunday, we ended locking ourselves out of our truck on Main St. Although Miss Gloria couldn't find the number for a local locksmith, she did call me that evening to check on us to see if we made it home okay. Now a bad little place to stay. Very close to many restaurants.
This is the best place to stay on the island. If you’re looking for luxury, you shouldn’t be going to Chincotegue anyway. It’s clean and a nice place to stay. We’ve stayed here every time we’ve come down and Gloria has been nothing but a gem. Don’t go in with your city attitudes and you’ll have a great experience!
We haven't had the pleasure of meeting Joe as of yet. However, Gloria is a very sweet manager. We stumbled upon this location when we were on a spur of the moment vacation. It has ended up being the perfect getaway for us. This is not a place you want to stay if you are looking for 5 star hotel experience. However, If you enjoy camping and just want some conveniences from home (refrigerator, microwave, oven, stove and a roof over your head) this is the perfect place!!
If you are looking for a nice quiet no frills back to nature beach experience this is the best place I have found on Chincoteague Island. The Chincoteague Pony Center is almost right across the street. Yes geese, ducks and of course sea gulls are everywhere but isn’t that one of the reasons why you come to the seashore in the first place? The rooms and trailers are of course quite dated but nice and clean on the inside - I feel like I am going back in time to the 70’s or 80’s but that’s OK with me. Joe and Gloria are very nice and will make sure you have the basics so you can relax and have a great time during your beach vacation.
