The young staff is kind and eager to help. However, the benefits of this $800+ per night stay end there. The tents clustered close together making the sounds of other tents, like crying babies, easy to hear. There is little peace and seclusion as this is most definitely a family atmosphere. The “chef inspired grilled food” was cold and left a significant amount to be desired. I personally watched a staff member fill a water pitcher from an outdoor faucet under the “Restroom” sign and bring it inside and dump it into the drinking water serving container. The tent had an outside light that did not work and 2 inside lights, one of which was almost dead with a broken charging port. 2 power packs available on the bedside tables were not enough to keep the small fan running through the night. The bed was soft and warm and was definitely the highlight of the stay. For the price point this site left a lot to be desired. Upon checkout, no-one asked if the stay was enjoyable which left no room for feedback. Again, the younger staff members were kind and energetic to help. However, this stay was a first and last. Would not recommend if you are looking for rest and relaxation after a long hike.
Under Canvas Acadia was a great place to stay. We have never stayed at a "glamping" site before but this was a fantastic first experience. We stayed in the king bed room which has plenty of space and had a great view out into the woods. Hot water shower and sink and toilet. Bed was comfortable. Only issue was with neighbors staying up late who we clearly hear. Staff were super friendly all around and were extremely helpful with any request. Jordan was great had an awesome personality and was very attentive even for 8am on a Sunday. We will definitely be back and visit one of their other sites.
Under Canvas was an incredible resting place on our trip to Acadia. The tent was perfect. Plenty of space for the two of us and incredibly clean and welcoming. The staff were always looking for ways to make our stay more comfortable. The food was delicious with great local variety. Couldn’t beat the views. Highly recommend and will certainly stay with Under Canvas again in the future.
The accommodations were not what we expected for a $400 a night place to stay. We are fully aware of the clamping concept, but this was just a step up from car camping For that price we would at least expect to have breakfast included. Wood burning fire did not heat the tent and was hard to start and maintain. Pull chain shower was less than desirable. At least there was a flushing toilet. Dirt and dusty road is not what we expected from a place which should be a 5 Star facility. Employees were great and very accommodating and helpful. The facility, however really needs some upgrading for the price point you are asking. It is a shame because we probably will not stay in Under Canvas again as we travel in other parts of the US. I will also post this on a Yelp review.
We stayed at Under Canvas Acadia for one night at the end of a hiking trip to Acadia. We had four people (two couples) and rented a Suite with Kids tent. Both tents were clean and as advertised by the photos on their website. You could purchase meals and beverages at the main camp tent, where they also had daily scheduled activities as well as extensive seating and a few fire pits with a great view of the ocean. I was very impressed with the privacy of our tent location. We could enjoy views from all of our windows and front porch without seeing campers at other sites. The campsite was a decent distance from the Acadia, so I don't think I would recommend staying here if you also expect to hike or explore the park on those days. A couple of things to note: - Fire pit seating is limited and popular, so definitely get to one early or be prepared to wait! - They provide you with two USB battery pack chargers per tent (one set in the adult tent, another set in the kids) that they use to charge lanterns and activate a plug in fan. This is also how you charge your phone. All of us found, however, that leaving the fan running overnight and charging your phone caused the battery packs to die at some point overnight. The staff will swap these out for you, but since they died overnight our phones were only partly charged. If you have your own portable phone charger you may want to bring it just in case! I would definitely recommend this unique experience as part of a trip to the Northeast!
