One guest shared, "Under Canvas gave my outdoorsy husband the authentic camping experience he loves, while providing the basic amenities I enjoy! The peaceful atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. The 360-degree views and soothing sounds of nature were breathtaking. We also loved the delicious food, creative cocktails, and, above all, the warm and welcoming team members. Plus, the Grand Canyon was conveniently close. We can’t wait to explore another Under Canvas location!"
However, it's important to note that some guests have experienced challenges with the wood-burning stoves during windy conditions. One guest mentioned, "Our tent got so bad that I had to sit outside. We got smoked out! Yes, they moved us to another tent. No, we did not use the wood-burning stove in that one. Unfortunately for me, I only have one lung because of a medical situation. Which made it doubly worse. I almost had to go to the hospital for smoke inhalation."
Despite this, the majority of guests have praised the overall experience and the exceptional service provided by the Under Canvas team. For those planning a visit, it's advisable to be prepared for varying weather conditions and to communicate any specific needs with the staff to ensure a comfortable stay.

I stayed at under the canvas October 17th 2024. I had extremely high hopes for an enjoyable time. My issue was with the fire burning stove. They're chimney system is substandard and facilitates a term they use often, is a smoke out. What happened, it was windy out and cold. Which is no big deal to me as a Minnesota native my entire life. However their substandard wood burning stove stack facilitates wind blowing down the stove pipe into the burning chamber, forcing the smoke into the room. Obviously it happens quite often. They actually have a name for it there. It's called a smoke out. Our tent got so bad that I had to sit outside. We got smoked out! Yes they moved us to another tent. No we did not use the wood burning stove in that one. Unfortunately for me I only have one lung because of a medical situation. Which made it doubly worse. I almost had to go to the hospital for smoke inhalation. I managed to regain my composure and was finally able to move to a different tent. Upon checkout not even a sorry you experienced that sir, no consideration for my troubles on some sort of discount. So if you plan on staying there just be prepared for a sleepless Smokey night. What's important to them is taking in money. The fact that it was cold out, rained, and snow on the same night did not bother me one bit. What did bother me is that didn't care a damn bit about what happened. And it's all because they have substandard stove pipe toppers that allow wind to blow the smoke in your tent, and they could care less.
Having just driven by and viewed the Grand Canyon some half hour earlier the first thing that my party and I noticed here was the very attentive and friendly service we got when we arrived at the location. The staff use golf carts to get around the location so after checking in we drove to the area where our tent was and then the agent moved our bags on the cart to the "front door". Inside the tent the accommodations are exactly as you see them in the advertising pictures. The shower and toilet area are neat, clean and the hot water was almost instant. The bed was extremely comfortable and the log stove was very easy to light. It kept our tent very cozy as the night temperatures dropped. They even had a hair dryer on request for use in the tent. The location was very quiet so we enjoyed sitting on our porch watching the sky change color as it got late. The central area of the camp is a very large tent covering the reception area, kitchen/bar and eating/communal area. outside this was a large area of tables and fire pits which were well used in the evenings - our first evening we were provided with everything we needed to make S'Mores. The following evening it was a Hot chocolate bar! Delicious. The large tent was kept nice and warm inside. Food and drinks could be ordered cafe style and they were always great choices. The whole place had a very friendly community feel to it and once again the staff serving food and drink were incredibly helpful. They were extremely helpful towards my friend who has some very particular allergies. Overall we loved staying here and will definitely look to staying at another Under Canvas property next year.
Was a great glamping experience, even in the 'cheaper rooms'. We were very pleasantly surprised at how good the communal showers / bathrooms were. They were clean and also warm (even though they needed a minute to warm up). Food at the restaurant cafe was quite basic and the fire pits outside were a disappointment. Only one of the pits had real wood, while others were just a small gas fire pits with little flames that did not do much.
Let’s start by acknowledging that this is glamping in the high desert, not an all-inclusive resort on the ocean. If you don’t like camping, or if you are allergic to tap water, this might not be for you. However, if you do enjoy being outdoors and don’t mind the reality that “outdoors” means temperature swings and critters, then this place is GREAT. The food, especially the breakfasts, is excellent. The staff bends over backwards to take care of you. I’ll be checking out Under Canvas’ other locations! One last note: if you are flying in, rent a car ahead of time (there is no ride sharing) and don’t use Hertz - their Flagstaff Airport counter closes at 4pm. A very special thank you to Jaclyn, Jill, Michael, Sophia, Waverly, Conor, Kane, Oscar, Tobias, Emmah, Darius, and Bree!!
