Basic Services for a Self-Sufficient Group Camping Experience:
As an unimproved group campground within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, the services offered at Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground are intentionally basic, encouraging self-sufficiency and a closer connection with the natural environment. You can typically expect:
- Designated Group Campsites: We offer one or more designated group campsites, capable of accommodating larger numbers of people than individual sites. These sites are typically more spacious to accommodate multiple tents and group activities.
- Limited or No Hookups: Being "unimproved" means that you should not expect water, electric, or sewer hookups at these campsites. Groups will need to bring their own water supply and power sources (if needed, such as generators, following any campground rules).
- Vault Toilets (Pit Toilets): Restroom facilities will likely consist of vault toilets, which are non-flushing and more rustic than modern restrooms. Be prepared for this type of facility.
- Potable Water Source (Potentially Limited or None): Access to potable water may be limited or non-existent. Groups should plan to bring their own water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation, or have a reliable method for treating natural water sources if permitted and available. Check specific campground regulations regarding water.
- Fire Rings or Designated Fire Areas: Group campsites will likely have fire rings or designated areas for building campfires, subject to local fire regulations and restrictions.
- Picnic Tables: Each group campsite may be equipped with picnic tables for meal preparation and gathering.
- Waste Disposal: While trash receptacles may be provided, it is often expected in unimproved areas that groups will practice Leave No Trace principles, including packing out all trash. Be sure to understand and adhere to the specific waste disposal guidelines for the campground.
- Parking Areas: Designated parking areas will be available for group members' vehicles, which may be located a short walk from the actual campsites.
Unique Features for Group Wilderness Camping:
Unimproved Clear Lake North Group Campground offers unique features that cater specifically to groups seeking a more natural and self-reliant camping experience:
- Large Group Capacity: The primary feature is the ability to accommodate larger groups of campers in a single designated area, fostering a sense of community and shared experience.
- Direct Access to Clear Lake: Enjoy direct or very close access to the shores of Clear Lake for potential activities such as swimming, fishing, and non-motorized boating (subject to lake regulations).
- Undeveloped Natural Setting: The unimproved nature of the campground allows for a more authentic wilderness experience with fewer human-made structures and more emphasis on the natural environment.
- Opportunities for Primitive Skills: For groups interested in practicing outdoor skills, such as fire starting, water purification (if permitted), and Leave No Trace camping, this type of campground provides an ideal setting.
- Enhanced Privacy and Seclusion: Compared to more developed campgrounds with individual sites close together, a group campground, especially an unimproved one, often offers a greater sense of privacy and seclusion for your group.
- Stargazing Opportunities: The lack of artificial lighting in an unimproved area typically results in excellent conditions for stargazing.
- Wildlife Observation: The natural environment around Clear Lake provides opportunities for observing local wildlife. Remember to do so respectfully and maintain a safe distance.

Customer Reviews
What a wonderful slice of beauty this entire area was. For the love of decency. Learn how to go to the bathroom outside. The amount of garbage all over the place. Mainly toilet paper was sad.
The campground is first come first serve. It’s a $20 camping fee with $10 for an extra vehicle (10/day for extra vehicle). Cash only. There are bathrooms and a dumpster for trash. Mostly boaters and rv’ers take up a lot of the sites by Friday. They do have $10 day use camping areas for a nice picnic. In general there were families enjoying their time there. But this is a very congested area now. It was packed to the brim by Friday night. All night we heard loud music, dogs barking, car alarms going off and people yelling. It was like being in the ghetto with no amenities lol. I’m sure none of the families with children enjoyed this. But we all suffered through it. We left early because this to me is just not camping. The river was dangerously low when we went. And there was quite a bit of algae growing. The woods were dry so be careful with your fire and follow the local laws. If you are from another state and are used to more remote camping this will be a hard transition. Otherwise welcome to WA campgrounds. Crowded and noisy.
This place is great! Cheap place to camp right by the river and a very short drive to the lake if you want to boat or do whatever. It looked like about 12 campsites all had to share one female and one male bathroom so if its busy, just plan for that if you can. I cant speak for the entire campground but the site we chose that's about how many surrounding sites were close to the restroom. All of the sites had some shade, some obviously had more than others. Theres trails all over the place. We went on a Wednesday and there were plenty of hikers moving about the area by the main road. Overall, it was really a good place to camp.
Our family very much enjoyed our campsite! The bathrooms were clean and sites well maintianed. The only downside were the other campers loud music and partying till 3 am.
Only issue was lots of mosquitoes. Nice big open group camp site with a lot of flat spaces neat the river and private out house.
