Spacious campground! While we were there, it was very quiet, and you were able to enjoy all the nature around you. Everyone camping around us was very courteous. The camp host was very personable and delightful. The fire warning was at extreme during our visit, so we could not build any fires. So he offered to let us use his propane stove if we needed it, even though we brought ours. Beautiful hike around the campsite and watching the river was very serene.
Our sons grew up camping by the creek, hiking down to the Rogue River, fishing, visiting the Gorge before it was developed, biking, star gazing in the middle of the parking space, keeping warm by the fire, talking about important stuff, bacon and eggs on the ancient grills, following our golden retriver down the trail, contests jumping off the logs. Learning how to live with less, visiting the store for a coke, and amazing Becky's cafe. I loved listening to God for He was very loud there and dreaming up creative projects in the wild. Our dog was very happy there. And the picnic area easy to use for a day trip! Restrooms mostly outhouse but for the parking lot.
I absolutely loved my camping spot here. The space was large and mostly private. I suggest getting a spot near the river. The minus side would be no showers and also never in the 3 days I was there was the camp host on duty, which was a bit frustrating. Also, mosquitos are bad here and even worse at CrYer Lake so be prepared.
What a hidden gem! WOW this campground is AMAZING! Sites were well spaced and VERY clean! Our site was right on the rogue river, can hear it all night long! Shout out to the camp host, Gary, AMAZING!!! He was so helpful and told us some amazing hikes! Thank you Gary for everything you did for us! Such a shame so far from home!
The campground is well maintained and has ample help closeby in case you need anything. The gift store is just a 5min walk away from the campgrounds and has pretty much anything you might need. There is a small creek that flows by the campground. The toilets are clean and do not stink. There is enough parking space. The campsites are big enough to host 6 people although you can park only two cars besides the campsite. Other cars would need to use the nearby reserve parking. Do carry a mosquito repellent in case you end up camping here. There are water faucets available near every campsite.
