Best location and price to heat ratio on hardwood campfire bundles in the area. No use in stopping anywhere else. The other local 3 for 10s are softwood and burn up in a few hours. Great selection of gifts and amenities inside as well. Will have to stay sometime. Looks great for families and quick access seekers. Very safe spot, would recommend for anyone.
I had the amazing experience of being able to work-camp here for the summer of 2023, and it was an amazing experience !!! Norm and Sue's are two of the most amazing people, and provide a wonderful family friendly and relaxing environment right on the shore of Lake Superior. The campground sets right outside of Porcupine Mountain Wilderness so the park is minutes away, Yooper light hunting at night is directly across the street, perfect for RockHounds of all ages. This place will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope to get back there again soon.
I have been twice now and will continue to come to this campground! Every campground I have gone to has rules (pretty much the same ones), but at this campground, they enforce them which keeps the peace and quiet for those following the rules! So if you can follow the rules and want peace and tranquility of nature, I highly recommend this! I have never had a bad encounter with the owners, I have enjoyed talking to them when they are out and about or in the store. They have a community campfire, so campers can sit by a fire and watch the sunset over Lake Superior. This campground sits right outside the Porcupine Mountain State park, which makes them close to MANY beautiful trails and attractions!
By far the best campground we have stayed at this year. All the reviews about the restrooms are spot on … have never been to a cleaner or nicer smelling one. Music is such a nice touch. Keep up the great work! Also, location is awesome- right across the street from Lake Superior and Porcupine Mountains right next door. Staring up at the midnight blue sky and stars took our breath away. Will definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this campground recently and, while the facilities themselves were nice, our overall experience was soured by how management handled a serious issue. After we left, we were wrongfully charged $200 for alleged damage and stolen property, none of which we were responsible for. (A missing fire ring & a damaged tree.) The tree damage was present when we first arrived, my husband noticed immediately upon arrival. & a ‘’missing fire ring’ for which the only proof was a still photograph. In my opinion, if there are going to be charges, there should be some sort of proof of the accusations.. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the situation, the management refused to answer our calls or discuss the matter. This lack of communication is unacceptable and has left us extremely frustrated. I would advise future campers to be cautious and document EVERYTHING, as it seems management may not be reliable or transparent when it comes to charges. (Take pictures of everything when you arrive & discuss with management immediately). It’s unfortunate that such poor customer service overshadowed what could have been a pleasant stay. I hope this review helps others avoid a similar situation. Edit to add a response to the reply below: Thank you for taking the time to reply. However, I want to clarify a few things for both you and future guests who might read this. This was a family camping trip with our one-year-old, which, as any parent knows, is no small feat! Our focus was on creating a safe, enjoyable experience for our family, and we’re simply not the type to cause any “destruction.” In fact, our fellow campers were very kind and even commended us for camping with our daughter, making the environment feel truly family-friendly. It’s disappointing that we weren’t given the benefit of the doubt, especially without clear communication or a chance to discuss the issue. Mistakes can happen, and we understand that, but we would expect a business to handle such situations with transparency and empathy, rather than silence. We loved the setting and the community of campers, but this experience with management has unfortunately left us with little trust. I truly hope no other guests experience this sort of treatment, as it’s disheartening for a family who only wanted to create happy memories. My heart is sad that this has happened. I’ve actually never left a negative review in my life… unfortunately when crappy things happen to good people, it doesn’t leave you with much hope. ☹️
