Stayed last week Wednesday through Saturday(7/23-7/26 2025). What a hidden GEM! New campground just outside Akeley, MN and Paul Bunyan State Forest. No fuss, Great layout for parking camper and trailers. Up to date power poles no need for adapters to plug in. Most sites are large enough to park two campers if you wanted to. We could ride to the trails without ditch riding just a short drive down the gravel road. Absolutely loved the quietness and relaxing by the campfire at night. We will be back. Thank you! We had our annual family 4 wheeling trip and had an absolute amazing time at Up North Retreats. We highly recommend this campground. We have stayed at other campgrounds in the area but they are always so busy and super tight to get into with a large camper. Up North Retreat has large pull through camping areas and in a quiet area. We loved the cows next to the camping area they were a great welcome team. The campgrounds were very clean and the hosts checked on us daily to make sure we had everything we need. We will be going back for sure.

Just spent the weekend at UNR. Its a perfect campground for spending time with friends and family. All of the lots are very large with plenty of room to park a large rig and extra vehicles. Plus, there's an ample amount of overflow parking as well. Each lot has full hook ups with its own fire ring/cooking grate and picnic table. About 1/3 of a mile north of Hwy 34 (and the Heartland State Trail), there's easy access to the campground. I didnt do any trail riding this weekend but the campground is less than a mile to ATV trails thatll take you through the Paul Bunyan State Forest.
