This trail is definitely off the beaten path, but fairly easily reachable, located at the end of a steep downhill hike of about 1.8 miles. The hike itself made us full of anticipation, but we were a little disappointed as there was basically nothing there, which is totally fine for backpackers, however it was very dark and honestly creepy as it's hidden in the trees in a deep canyon. There is only one grill which you can't use anyway and maybe only a one good level spot for your tent. The upside is it's right next to a spring running year around.

Upper Ballard is a very rustic campsite nestled next to the Alamo Pintado Creek. The only infrastructure here is a small grill. The land is slightly uneven however there (as of Feb 2019) of running water in the creek.
