Date of Visit: July 4th weekend Weather: 99-110 F The weather is nice and cool at night. No problem sleeping. The weather in the morning is super nice. It’s nice to stay at the campground until noon. Between 3pm until sunset, it gets extremely hot! Campsite: Campsite 136 in my opinion has the best and the only campsite with a window of lake view. We were able to watch the July 4th fireworks! Campsite 136, 138, and 140 are close to each other. The campsites in front of these campsites have running faucets. Campsite 138 has a view as well but bunch of trees blocking the view. However, there is a flatter surface area to set up a tent. Campsite 136 is a little bit sloped but there’s a little bit of flat area to set up tent as well. And there are shades from the trees. It’s nice to wake up facing the lake when walking out of our tent. Parking: The parking area can fit two cars. It’s possible to car camp using an SUV tent but we didn’t do it because it was sloped. I would not recommend it. Restroom/Shower: The restrooms and showers are clean but I still suggest to alcohol wipe the surface. The shower tokens need to be exchanged close to the visitor center, not at visitor center. The machine where you get the token only takes cash, not coins, and it does not give change. The shower water pressure was strong and I only needed 2-3 tokens. The restroom gets hot so bring a portable fan. Staff/Ranger: The staffs and rangers were nice and the rangers do their rounds.
We enjoyed our stay on lot 121. Enjoying having a spot on the outskirts of the campgrounds. The location was very private in mid May with only a few other campers around. Enjoyed multiple deer sightings but be ready for evening with plenty of bug spray. Fire pit height hindered our ability to enjoy sitting around a campfire. Central bathroom had a lot of bugs. Bathroom with shower is Much nicer. Local trails were easy and enjoyable.
Came in with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised at this campsite. Try to get a site on the outside of the loop towards the lake for some potential lake view from camp.
I love my spot I picked #112 which beyond the trees you can see the lake. It was an extra 5$ to camp at #112 but worth it.
Quiet so far, nice campsite at 123. Typical CA State Park restrooms without hot water or soap. Deer on premises. Not many insects. Would come again. Didn’t get in water.
