Upper Cedar Hills Campground Introduce
Welcome to Upper Cedar Hills Campground, more broadly known as Cedar Hills Campground, a distinctive destination within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. Located near Mazomanie, Wisconsin, this campground offers a unique and welcoming environment, primarily catering to an adult-oriented, clothing-optional clientele. Spanning 80 acres (some sources indicate 90 acres), the campground is situated atop a scenic bluff, providing expansive views of the surrounding valleys and a sense of privacy and tranquility. It is celebrated for its friendly atmosphere, commitment to inclusivity, and a range of services and features designed for a relaxing and enjoyable outdoor experience.
The environment at Upper Cedar Hills Campground is a significant part of its appeal. Perched on a 1000-foot-high bluff, the campground offers stunning vistas and a sense of being elevated above the everyday. The 80-acre property is largely wooded, with private sites that provide a sense of seclusion and connection with nature. Guests can expect a natural setting with ample mature trees, offering shade and a pleasant ambiance. The layout of the campground is designed to maximize privacy for individual sites while still fostering a community feel. The quiet and secluded setting, along with over 6 miles of hiking/skiing trails that wind through 100 acres of woodland (bordering state lands), allows for extensive exploration of diverse habitats, from old-growth maple to mixed hardwood forests. Evidence of the property's former life as a limestone quarry, including high rock walls, adds a unique historical dimension to the landscape. Guests can also enjoy beautiful sunsets, particularly from the blufftop locations, enhancing the overall natural experience. The environment actively encourages a sense of freedom and relaxation, aligning with its clothing-optional policy.
Upper Cedar Hills Campground provides a range of services designed for convenience and comfort. For accommodations, the campground offers a variety of site types to suit different preferences. These include numerous sites for rent, varying from traditional tent sites to spaces for RVs, and even park models for those seeking more luxurious amenities. All RV sites are equipped with water and electric connections, providing 120/30/50 amp service, catering to various RV sizes and needs. While tent sites generally exclude these hookups, they still offer a private and well-maintained space. For those without an RV or tent, park models and even fifth-wheel RVs are available for rent, providing furnished options starting from $125 to $200. These rentals are noted for being very clean and well-maintained. The campground ensures essential facilities are readily available, including public, well-maintained bathrooms and showers, offering hot water for comfort. A laundry facility is also on-site, a practical service for longer stays. Guests can purchase propane for their RVs, ice for coolers, and firewood for campfires. The owner, Dennis, is often highlighted for his friendly demeanor and willingness to provide tours and assistance, contributing to the welcoming service ethos of the campground. The campground is also notably pet-friendly, welcoming all types and breeds of pets, and electric golf carts are welcome for navigating the expansive grounds.
The features of Upper Cedar Hills Campground enhance the overall guest experience, focusing on recreation, community, and relaxation. A key characteristic is its status as an adult-only, clothing-optional campground, creating a specific atmosphere of freedom and acceptance. The large size of the property means plenty of private sites, ranging from those with direct river access to those offering panoramic views from the bluff. Recreational features include access to nearby hiking trails, with one specifically mentioning the presence of an old Model A truck along the banks of Belle Creek for a unique discovery. The river directly behind some campsites provides opportunities for water activities such as swimming. For those who enjoy social gatherings, the campground frequently hosts events and parties, with live entertainment on weekends. A particularly popular feature is the campground's own fireworks display on holiday weekends, creating a festive and memorable experience. The presence of a wide network of trails, both within the campground's 80 acres and extending into the attached 800 acres of DNR land, provides endless opportunities for walking, hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing depending on the season. The community aspect is strong, with many seasonal regulars who often use golf carts to get around and socialize. The campground is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all guests.
For promotional information and booking, Upper Cedar Hills Campground is typically open seasonally, from April 15th to October 15th. While online reservations are noted as "coming soon," prospective guests are currently advised to call Dennis directly at 608-795-2606 for reservations. Given its popularity, especially on busy weekends and holidays, early booking is highly recommended. The campground is known for its fair pricing. Although specific rates for RV and tent sites are not universally published, reviews suggest them to be reasonable, with rental park models varying from $125 to $200. The campground offers seasonal rates for those looking for a more permanent retreat, with some sites offering no charge for off-season RV storage. It is important to note that access during the off-season (October 15th - April 15th) may be limited, particularly regarding water service and road accessibility during snow events, so direct communication with the campground owner is vital for off-season inquiries. The campground emphasizes that it is an adult-only facility, strictly 18 and above, and its clothing-optional policy is a defining characteristic. This information is key for new visitors to understand the unique nature of this camping experience. Promotions and news regarding events are typically shared via an "Event Tab" on their official communication channels, suggesting that potential guests should check these regularly for updates on live entertainment, parties, and fireworks displays. The relaxed ambiance, stunning views, and friendly community make Upper Cedar Hills Campground a notable choice for those seeking an adults-only, clothing-optional outdoor escape in Wisconsin.

Customer Reviews
Very big and busy campground. Sites are spread out good so your not on top of your neighbors. The site is well treed and fully shaded. The bathrooms are clean and have the modern update. You are close the highway so you will get some traffic noise.
Nice campground. Site 11 (electric) is very level, lots of trees for shade and bushes to help separate sites. There are a fair number of campsites but we felt like we had decent privacy "our spot". It was full when we stayed in July. As expected the air was filled with the sounds of kids playing and groups enjoying time together. Things settled in quickly in the late evening. Central bathrooms and shower rooms are modern and clean. Single spot dump station so RV campers should plan your departure accordingly. Lots of hiking trails nearby.
Nice quiet campground with a pretty Little River
Nice tree separated lots, friendly staff, excellent new shower building.
Very cool, especially for mountain climbing and camping enthusiasts
