Upper Coffeepot Campground offers a first-come, first-serve camping experience with the added convenience of electrical hookups at the sites. This campground is known to experience a high volume of visitors due to its attractive location and access to the river. A dedicated parking lot is available for fishermen, and there is a designated exit point for kayakers, paddleboarders, and floaters, highlighting the campground's popularity among water sports enthusiasts.

The environment at Upper Coffeepot Campground is centered around the beautiful river that runs alongside it. While the river is scenic, it's important to note that leeches have been reported in the water. The campsites themselves are described as relatively clean, providing a generally pleasant stay. For convenience, water valves are evenly distributed throughout the campground.

Restroom facilities consist of drop-down toilets, which visitors have noted were recently emptied, resulting in a manageable odor level at the time of their visit. The campground has a stay limit of 5 days, which is important to keep in mind when planning your trip.

Due to its popularity and first-come, first-serve policy, Upper Coffeepot Campground can get extremely busy. Visitors have reported constant traffic with people arriving and departing in search of available spots. Some even experienced inquiries from others wanting to know their departure times. This level of activity, combined with the river access attracting many people getting in and out of the water within the campground area, contributes to a bustling atmosphere.

Despite the busy nature, some visitors have found Upper Coffeepot Campground to be a "lovely spot," especially appreciating its location during longer road trips. Arriving in the late afternoon may offer a better chance of finding an available site, although it's expected to be more challenging earlier in the day, especially during the summer season and on weekends. A trail runs along the river, offering opportunities for leisurely walks. While the river is inviting for kayaking and other water activities, remember that an Idaho invasive species permit may be required for certain watercraft.

If you are looking for a campground with electrical hookups and direct access to a beautiful river for fishing and various water sports in the Island Park area, Upper Coffeepot Campground is a popular choice. Be prepared for a potentially busy environment due to its first-come, first-serve nature and river access.

First come first serve with electrical hookups. Boy does this campground get a lot of traffic. There is a parking lot for fisherman, and an exit for all the kayakers, paddleboarders, and floaters. The stay limit is 5 days. The river is beautiful but has leeches. The sites were relatively clean. There were water valves evenly dispersed through out the campground. Restrooms are drop down, and recently emptied so they don't smell that bad yet. The campground was extremely busy. People came and went all day looking for spots. We even had people knock asking when we were leaving. So keep that in mind. That combined with everybody getting out of the river in the middle of the campground made it so busy.

We stayed just one night, but it was the most lovely spot we stayed in our 2000 mile drive trip. We arrived in the late afternoon and there were several spots to choose from, but I expect it could be harder earlier in the summer or on a weekend. There's a trail along the river. I didn't take a chance on putting my kayak in since I didn't have the required Idaho invasive species permit, but I wanted to!

very beautiful campground. Only has 16 sites and very clean and quiet. I had site #6 and used a tent. there is no power outlet on this site #. I was less than 100 feet from the Henry river. I camped in The end of July and there were very few bugs. I didn't use my bug spray. Camp Hosts keep the bathroom very clean. Its a out house with no sink but had hand sanitizer every day. It s About 25 miles to yellowstone.

Lovely. Quiet. Secluded. Next to a shallow but quickly moving river. We were lucky that they had an opening because it appears they are usually booked far in advance. It would be wise to call ahead as the road getting here is mediocre to poor and I wouldn't want to make the drive just to find out there are no openings.

Bad experience with Park Host but the peacefulness was wonderful. Spent time with my mom her first time camping had a wonderful time bonding.
