I loved the campsite (#14). It was flat, clean, quiet, and huge. We fit 3 10x10 tents in our site. The rangers were friendly, knowledgeable but mindful of the site. We had 4 close sightings of different 🐻 bears so please heed the ranger warnings about cleaning up and locking away everything that even remotely has scent! They drive by daily with wood to sell ($10 bundle) and shoo'd away one of the bears for us. Restrooms were stocked and cleaned daily. Didnt smell or look bad. Door has no knob so it was hard to keep closed during windy days (not fun when trying to shower). Showers are located in the restroom area towards the back. $1 per token = 3 min hot shower water (be warned..water takes few seconds to warm up, its cold first shooting out 🥶 ) machine takes dollars (1,5,10) I was able to shower comfortably with 2 tokens. There is also a wash basin in the back of the restrooms to wash soiled cloths or hiking shoes. Beach is not close to the camp site 😕 as we originally thought it was going to be steps away. Took a wrong trail and ended up doing a 45 min hike (rocky trail be careful. I tripped) to a little beach nook. Camp site does have free activities on certain days you can scan and sign up for like kyacking. Driving to town is also easy and quick, about a 10 min drive.
This place is gorgeous. We came at the end of May. WOW!!! This is beautiful. You have to see the photos because words just don't begin to describe the beauty 😍
Booked this place last min at lower campground. This is a very nice park - flushed toilet and shower (tokens must be purchased at check in ; 1 token = 3 min) Dogs are welcome but cannot go to Emerald bay with fur family members. So if you bring your dogs pls do remember that. Each campground is very different size. We got lucky with site 75. Site 75 is a decent size camp for group. Each site allows 1 car included in the site fee but 2nd car + must pay $10 per day. This place accept cans / credit card. Cell service is limited but found AT&T has better reception than Verizon. Token can’t be exchanged for cash if you have extra, but can be used for other state parks. When we visited in mid Aug 2024, it became so windy that we can only cook food with gas. Hope this helps everyone. We would love to come back again!
This is a great campsite. The area is beautiful and the sites are very clean. There are bears in the area though so don't forget to lock up your food in their bear boxes or your own. The pictures show the view on the way to the site.
it's a big campground, but it's very homey. The tent spots are far enough from the road to feel secluded, and they offer great views. There are several hikes within the camp site itself. There is water provided, along with bathrooms and private showers. Each site has a fire pit, barbecue, table and benches, and a bear box. Overall a few pleasant experience and I would definitely come back!
