Our first off road experience. This review is from October 10. It was full of hunters. You have to go up a one way road for about 40-45 minutes. It's very steep and you have to give right of way for people coming down. I highly recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle but it's doable without (we did it on a Nissan Pathfinder 2 wheel drive). It does get very cold. Unlike the reviews have said it was very populated at the top (many people in cameo). We met police along the way and they asked if we were hunters, so maybe hunting season ? We mostly went there to your the beautiful roads and see the top of the camp grounds. There is a trash, a potty and some benches/seats. First come first serve.

Awesome location with 360 degree views. High enough and far enough to keep most of the riff raf out and the annoying tourist types away from the top. It’s a bit of a hike but most can easily achieve it for a day hike or overnight hike and tent camp out. You have to pack in your own water and pack out your own trash and leave no trace is the way to live by so practice those principles. Pit toilet which is to be expected in this remote location. Recommend it.

This is a quiet campground up in the mountains. The trash cans are protected from bears. There are pit toilets. You can see Anetlope Valley on one side and San Gabriel Valley far away on the other side. The roads to get to Upper Pacifico are closed, so you probably won't see anybody else. There are fire pits, but you still need a fire permit to use them.
