US Forestry Department Introduce
🌳 Introduction / Overview: Gateway to the Caddo National Grasslands
When Texas residents look for public lands managed for conservation and outdoor recreation, the U.S. Forest Service (or U.S. Forestry Department, as it is often referred to) is a name that signifies expansive natural areas. The address provided in Honey Grove, Texas, is associated with the management and maintenance of the surrounding public lands, most notably the Caddo National Grassland. Unlike a typical private camping resort, this location primarily serves as an administrative or operational base for the dedicated staff who manage these vital public resources in Fannin County.
For Texans, the true value of this location is that it serves as a nearby point of contact for the surrounding Grasslands, which offer some of the best dispersed and developed camping opportunities in North Texas. The Caddo National Grassland, established to restore eroded lands, spans thousands of acres and includes popular recreational spots like Lake Crockett and Coffee Mill Lake, making the general Honey Grove area a prime spot for natural immersion and affordable outdoor adventure.
⚠️ A Note on Access and Visitor Experience: It is critical for visitors to understand that this specific address, 942 FM409, is likely an administrative or field office, or a point of entry/trailhead for the National Grasslands—not a developed public campground with check-in desks. Public lands often use pay-by-app or 'Scan-and-Pay' systems for fees, and visitors must ensure their payment is correctly recorded for their vehicle license plate to avoid citations, as noted in customer feedback. Always double-check digital payment confirmation to prevent administrative issues.

PAID on the APP for parking and got back to the vehicle and had a ticket on it. The app includes the vehicle’s plate number. And now we have to do more work and call M-F to get this $130 ticket cleared up. We won’t be back here.
