The location on Martinez Lake itself is a significant draw. Guests frequently highlight the direct access to the lake and the various activities available, from fishing to paddle boarding. While the natural setting is undoubtedly a highlight, the convenience of nearby military base facilities, such as laundry machines, a grocery store, and a gas station, ensures that essential needs are easily met, allowing for a truly hassle-free vacation.

This article will delve into the specifics that make USMC Venture Lodging at Martinez Lake an ideal destination, covering its serene location and accessibility, the range of services and features it provides, essential contact information, and why it is perfectly suited for military families and eligible patrons in Arizona.

Location and Accessibility

USMC Venture Lodging at Martinez Lake is strategically situated at 9448 N Roadrunner Rd, Yuma, AZ 85365, USA. This address places it directly on the shores of Martinez Lake, a popular body of water located north of Yuma, Arizona, and part of the vast Lower Colorado River system. The lake itself is a recreational hotspot, making the lodging's lakeside position a significant advantage for guests.

While the facility provides a secluded and tranquil retreat, it benefits from its proximity to key military installations. The Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Yuma is approximately 39 miles away, and the U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) is also nearby. This proximity is crucial as USMC Venture Lodging is an exclusive facility, available only to active duty military, dependents, retirees, veterans, DoD civilians, and other eligible patrons with a valid military ID and base access.

Accessibility to Martinez Lake involves driving from Yuma, typically heading north. While some roads leading to the lake were undergoing upgrades, implying potential for longer travel times or unpaved sections, the overall route is manageable. Visitors are advised to be mindful of wildlife, especially at night, due to the remote nature of the area. It is also recommended to fuel up before arriving, as the nearest gas station is about 14 miles away at Yuma Proving Ground.

The remote, "middle of nothing and nowhere" feel of the location, as described by a guest, is precisely what makes it appealing for those seeking to truly disconnect. Despite this seclusion, the presence of a military base nearby offers the convenience of 24/7 laundry machines, a grocery store (commissary), and gas station, ensuring that basic necessities are easily met. This unique blend of remote lakeside beauty with accessible military amenities makes USMC Venture Lodging at Martinez Lake a distinct and highly convenient destination for its authorized patrons.

For a stayca-getaway, we rented a cabin for 3 days. It's a great way to unwind and reset, mentally and physically, while having the basic amenities of a household. Of course, the military base nearby offers up 24/7 laundry machines, as well as a grocery store and gas station. The nature center down the road offers nice hiking trails. Consider securing a cabin (or a RV spot) 30 days out to avoid any hassle.

We were there for Easter. Ted rented a pavilion, and we had ham and cheese sandwiches and chips. Then the kids and Ted went swimming. It was a nice day till the clouds started rolling in, and so did the wind. It was nice while it lasted. If we had our license we would have gone fishing but oh well. Still a nice day.

This place used to be great. The service really sucks!!! The 2 old guys that used to be there were extremely friendly and family orientated since MWR took over it has gone to trash. The hipster girl who runs it is always late! She’s the only one working so by the time I get the boat I paid 250$ for it’s already 10 am and you have to have the boat back by 5. Than she asks if you could come back early so she can do the inspection.

Great place to spend some time with friends and family. The cabins are very nice and provide for a comfortable stay. Beach access is nice and convenient to a group of cabins. The drive out is getting much better. With improvements to the road. But currently, the wait to travel down the single lane road can be long depending on time of day and day of the week. Depending on people's arrival and departures. No big deal.
