You gain a lot of elevation, 1200ft, in about 1.5 miles. You're mostly hiking through aspens on a well maintained trail up to the ridge which tops out around 10,400ft. The views of the conejos valley from up there are spectacular. We saw two large elk by the watering hole and then continued on into some large meadows.
