Customer Reviews
This pas a great place to spend some time in an RV park. There’s a fabulous trail (paved) the runs along the park but extends from the town of Rogue River to North Rogue River Rd (under I-5 and across the railroad tracks). So lots of walkable area. There’s a dog park at the State Park which is great to exercise your dog when it’s been cooped up in the RV while traveling. One of the bathrooms down by the dog park did smell like someone had camped there while smoking and it smelled terrible. But it was otherwise nice and well stocked. The RV spots are spread out and have picnic tables and all hookups. The bathrooms here are well maintained.
Why is Oregon unable to pay for more park rangers through fall and winter? More than half the RV spots are being closed for the winter despite having an overflow of people willing to pay $200+ per week. The reason for closing? Insufficient funding to state parks for more rangers through the winter. Let’s hope things change for the better in November. Ok, here’s my actual review: This is among the best parks in state and RVers love it (~$220 weekly for full RV hookup). There are campsites along the Rogue River, with all the basic amenities you’d expect in a State Park (hot showers and bathrooms, 50/30/20 amp plugs, water & sewage at the RV sites. Maximum 14 day stay and then you must stay 72 hours off-site.
Very nice and quiet park! Lots of beautiful big trees, everything is maintained and clean. Beautiful fire pits with grate for cooking. Good space between campsites and sites are paved and level. Not much noise from the interstate. Beautiful, paved walking trail that runs along the river. Close to Medford for shopping and restocking the camper. Gold Hill is a very charming little town with stores and a nice laundromat. It was a very pleasant and relaxing stop on our trip.
It is a very nice park lots of staff all over the place keeping maintenance up. I did wish there were more trees, seemed a little bare between the yurts and even the camping and RV areas could have used a lot more trees between the sites. Over all alot of fun. There is a nice paved trail that goes from Gold Hill to Rouge River. You can bike , walk, scooter 🛴 or skateboard it. Had a wonderful time.
We were on a 10 hr road trip with 2 medium-sized dogs. This rest area portion was mid way and a welcome relief for dogs. The large, fenced-in doggy area was awesome. We had lunch on the picnic table located inside doggy area. Walking trail along the river had gorgeous views.
