You must have the proper credentials for military base access to camp here. It's so quiet and peaceful. Lots of green space. Full hook-ups, rec room and laundry room. Although there is access to a beautiful beach, you wouldn't want to swim, as there are sharks. Lots of places to visit nearby. Close to Lompoc and their flower fields as well as La Purisima Mission. Just north is Arroyo Grande, Pismo beach, San Luis Obispo, etc. There are wineries in the area and Edna Valley Wineries on the way to Pismo. SpaceX launches a rocket about once a week in 2024.
Dry camp is now only 10 days out the month. Still $10 but inconvenient if you planned on staying longer. Still I will stop in when I come through because it’s really convenient and inexpensive for all you get and I really appreciate that.
Really nice, long, level sites. People are friendly. It was a Thursday night, so we just drove in and got a spot without a reservation. They also have overflow spots. We wanted to extend our stay through the weekend, but no one was in the office on the weekend. It's a 1/2 hr drive to Solvang and the mission if you want something fun to do. They have a really nice bowling alley on base and a cafe with a delicious chicken sandwich. We plan on going back for another night on the way back home. Watch out for your dog, though. There was a coyote lurking around the campground.
Great campsite with things for the kids to do on location. Base was empty on the 4th of July Weekend and we just passed through on the way to Redwoods. Heads up: The puzzle in the picture is missing a piece which made for a fun exchange with the family 🤣
The fence around the tent area needs to be metal or come down. The drainage needs attention. Whenever it rains, your spots are flooded, and the area is extremely marshy! Could benefit from adding a dog park. The rec rooms are very large and nice with the cool rainy weather they were great when we had family visit. We used the area for visiting and dinner! The guy in the office is not very helpful when you have questions or need help with something. He advised washers, dryers were going to be fixed on a certain day, and they were not. Needed quarters for the machines for 3 days, he kept saying he was going to do a quarter count and refill the change machine..It doesn't take much to do that, other fam camps do it daily! It's a nice place. it just needs a little improvement!
