Veronen's Resort Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Nestled in the beautiful lake country of Northern Minnesota, Veronen's Resort offers a classic Northwoods vacation experience for Minnesotans seeking to disconnect and unwind. Located on the shores of Elbow Lake near the quiet town of Ponsford, this establishment operates as a hybrid facility, providing both cabin rentals and campground sites. The resort is locally known for offering a rustic, friendly atmosphere that many describe as the perfect escape from the hustle of modern life, a place where the pace is slow and the focus is on nature and water recreation.
Veronen's Resort is celebrated by many for its secluded setting and the opportunity it provides to truly "get away." Guests often praise the resort for its friendliness and the overall relaxing environment, making it a favorite for those who cherish simplicity and a strong connection to the outdoors, particularly fishing and swimming. One positive review enthusiastically calls it the "best place to disconnect and get away in MN" and emphasizes that you won't find a "friendlier resort anywhere." This suggests a deeply personal and community-focused atmosphere, often characteristic of multi-generational, family-run establishments in Minnesota.
However, prospective visitors, particularly families, should note that the social atmosphere at Veronen's can be highly dynamic. A long-time family of campers reported a conflicting experience, noting that loud partying by other campers continued until 4 AM. The owner's alleged response—suggesting that if a guest wasn't willing to "join the party" the campground might not be right for them—indicates that the resort may tolerate a high level of social activity and noise late into the night. This suggests that Veronen's caters to a specific clientele that prioritizes a boisterous, late-night communal atmosphere over strict quiet hours, which is an important consideration for Minnesotans seeking quiet solitude or traveling with young children.

What is Worth Choosing
Veronen's Resort is worth choosing for Minnesotans who are explicitly looking for a highly social, rustic, and casual atmosphere where the emphasis is on camaraderie and traditional lake life activities like saunas, swimming, and fishing for rainbow trout. It's an ideal choice for the traveler seeking a true disconnect from urban pressures and who values a communal, lively resort culture.
However, it is crucial to recognize that this resort operates on a unique social contract. The facility may not be suitable for all types of campers. The public record clearly suggests that individuals and families who require strict enforcement of quiet hours or who are sensitive to late-night noise (until 4 AM) should exercise caution and likely explore other options. The resort's apparent acceptance of a party-like environment means the potential for a loud, sleepless night is a genuine risk. Therefore, Veronen's is highly recommended for social, fun-loving groups and adults who enjoy a lively, friendly camp atmosphere, but not recommended for those prioritizing guaranteed peace, quiet, or traditional family camping solitude.

Customer Reviews
The best place to disconnect and get away in MN. Enjoy a swim, a sauna, catch some rainbow trout. You won't find a friendlier resort anywhere.
After three generations of our family camping here for 20+ years we were told not to come back when I complained to the owners about other campers partying loud until 4am. Judith said if I wasn’t going to join the party maybe Veronen’s isn’t the right campground for me and my kids.
It is a resort on Bad Medicine Lake. You van camp (RV or tent) or rent a cabin. Beautiful & peaceful area.
Favorite place to be. I have so many good memories here. My family loves the Veronens!
Old family resort and campground. Campsites clean and nicely spaced.
