Simple memorial site commemorating veterans, with flags for different branches of service. Visible from old baldy. Park at the Emilyann Theatre Parking lot off the road and walk the Sandy trail up.
Really difficult parking situation but beautiful time visiting and reflecting. Great views as well.
Very windy and closed off but calm and peaceful.
We saw the flags flying when we climbed Mt Baldy but when we went to try and find the memorial, there was one sign from the road and that was it. The city needs to put better signage and an improved road to get to the memorial. Once we finally figured out that the memorial was behind the theatre and up on a ridge, we were able to find it. It was once a very nice memorial with quite a few Eagle projects that are a tribute to the veterans but it needs a bit of sprucing up. Seems like it is a bit forgotten but hiding in this town like it is, I can understand why that is.
