🏞️ Introduction / Overview of Wagons West Campground & Motel

For Montana residents and travelers exploring the breathtaking Rocky Mountain Front, Wagons West Campground in Augusta offers the essential combination of full-service amenities and prime location. Unlike the rustic, primitive National Forest sites nearby, Wagons West provides a necessary hub of comfort and convenience, making it the ideal base camp for a long stay or a comfortable stopover.

Wagons West is more than just a place to park your RV; it’s a full-service hospitality center that includes an RV park, dedicated tent camping areas, a motel, and an attached restaurant/bar. This blend of services ensures that whether you're driving a big rig, sleeping in a tent, or needing a soft bed after a long day of hiking, your needs are met. Customers consistently praise the super friendly staff and the overall value provided.

Strategically located right off the highway, this facility positions you perfectly as the "Trailhead to the Bob Marshall Wilderness." It caters to outdoor enthusiasts—hunters, anglers, hikers accessing the Continental Divide Trail, and RV travelers—who need reliable infrastructure before or after venturing into Montana's magnificent, wild backcountry.

🗺️ Location and Accessibility for Montanans

Wagons West Campground & Motel boasts a highly convenient location for Montana travelers, situated in the small, historic town of Augusta.

  • Gateway to the Wilderness: Augusta is famously known as the gateway to the vast Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Wagons West is the closest commercial accommodation and service hub to the major trailheads and forest service roads that lead into the mountain front.

  • Year-Round Access: The campground proudly notes that its campsites are open all year long. While water services are typically turned off during the winter freeze, the ability to stay year-round, especially with frost-free hydrants in some spots, is a huge benefit for those exploring Montana in the shoulder seasons.

For Montanans traveling the Rocky Mountain Front or planning a major wilderness expedition, Wagons West Campground is the optimal choice when full convenience and reliable infrastructure are non-negotiable. It is worth choosing for several compelling reasons:

First, it offers premium RV services (full 50 AMP hookups, long pull-throughs) in an area dominated by rustic, primitive National Forest campgrounds. This is comfort where comfort is scarce.

LOVED our stay here!! We got a room in the motel. Super friendly staff (shoutout especially to Jenna), clean rooms, comfy beds, and affordable price. The bathroom in our room was a little small, but we just used the bathhouse to shower. Attached to a delicious and reasonably-priced restaurant and close walk to the general store.

A nice quiet place to rest and fill batterys, battery's, and dump. On a grassy field behind the motel. Beautiful views. Tent campers from the Continental Divide trail can pitch a tent get a shower and if they want there's a laundry mat, bar, casino and restaurant on the premises. Just a short walk to town
