This is a beautiful metropark! Pros of campground: beautiful, spacious, kids playground was right next to our spot! Cons: No showers! With concerns of ticks and Lyme disease after hiking, how does a campground not have showers? In the whole reservation process, there was no warning that there were no showers.
I was registered for two nights here, tonight would have been our second night. The first night was good. Small campsites, very open, no showers, lots of ants, but honestly fine. Today though, the lot next to us filled up with 5 cars, 1 popup trailer, 4 tents, and 14 people. All of which is against rules and regulations for this location. They were loud and their children cut through other sites frequently. After speaking to the office about what was happening, we were told we may be able to move, but the only sites were still right by this giant group, and that did not remedy the problem. We should not have had to move in the first place. We were also told by the office that the only way to enforce rules and regulations like this would be to call the police. We weren't about to do that over something like this, it seemed over the top. So we packed up and left. I paid for two nights and only got to stay one because I was not paying to stay in a group camping situation. There are sites for that and these are not them. I will not be staying here again. I do want to say that the office staff was friendly and communicative when we spoke to them on the phone. This park overall is great but the camping, in my experience, just isn't regulated well enough to ensure that you get what you pay for. It's a gamble. Update: next day We called the office again and let them know we vacated a day early and why. They comped us a day. I just wanted to reiterate the good experience with office staff. Maybe we'll try again. I gave it an extra star for the staff.
Very nice park large lots, plenty of room for our 37ft rig
Nice quiet place to visit
